This year and next year

Recommended Posts

I have just been thinking (whilst eating an egg-sandwich) of all that has happened this year and wondering what next year has in store.

2008:

I had my first child in April :D (following my first ever ride in an ambulance with sirens on!) so have spent most of the year learning how to be a mummy :D I've braved mother and baby groups :anxious: and made lots of new friends  . I'm not from this area so it is lovely to meet people, something which is incredibly hard to do when working five days a week. :D

OH left a job to start a new one close to home and was then made redundant six months later. :( So although not great news we got to spend two months together with our new baby. :D OH then returned to the first job and now has started another new job working for the same employer as me! :D

Not a bad year all in all!

2009:

I return to work part-time in January :(:(:( I'm worried about it and worried about putting Bogwoppit into nursery (as mentioned in another post a while ago).......BUT I'm determined to think positive and we'll try and make things work out.

We're planning to make the effort to meet up with friends we haven't seen much this year so hopefully lots of weekends away or visitors to ours to look forward to :D

Maybe some new chickens in the Spring.......:wink::D

Oh, and of course the Omlet forum has been a constant part of this year and will be in 2009 as well so a big thank you to fellow Omleteers for being so lovely and friendly and wise and funny! :D:D

That's a lovely summary Loon. :D

It's only natural to worry about going back to work and leaving the wee 'un. but I can guarantee that things will be fine (plus you get to go to the loo on your own for the first time in months! )

I had to return to work almost immediately after having Rosie (circumstances beyond my control) and luckily had the most brilliant nursery for her; she was very well looked after and had a super time there, so after the first week, I relaxed a bit.

Here's to a fabulous 2009 for all of us!

My 2008 has been o.k.

Had a lovely holiday together with hubby & my parents in Thailand.

Got my pure breeds.

Had a great time on dads 60th - great to see him having a once in a lifetime experience bless him & do some of the things he always wanted.

Hatched lots of chicks, got the new chicken shed & built a new enclosure.

Made a success of my end of drive produce sales. eggs, jam, chutney etc.

Our business has done really well this year.

But then we lost our dear cat..she was so poorly.

My dear dad is out of work - not good as they can't go Thailand with us in February ( had to cancel) & not good for his confidence etc.

2009 - My sister is 30 end of January.

Me & hubby go to Thailand in February.

Will get a kitten on our return (I'd prefer a puppy)

Hatch more chicks.

Pray that my dad gets a job (positive Omlet vibes please).

Would like to visit France.

Lorna, sounds like you've had a truly life changing, and life affirming year :D . I'm so glad it was such a good year for you and that your life has changed in such a positive way for you. I'm guessing that 2009 can't top the year in which your first baby was born, but I hope that it's a great year nonetheless in which the developments and achievements of 2008 are built upon and which you experience great happiness and self-fulfillment.

2008 was a massive year for me, pretty much undescribable, huge ups and downs and forcing me to face challenges that I really wasn't sure that I was up to. But overall, looking back now it's been good. There are a few moments that I never in my life want to confront again, but I've been shaken out of my very comfortable rut, I've learnt more about myself and cemented my relationship with my nearest and dearest. I hope that 2009 will be calmer and easier, and will be the year in which I'm able to reap the rewards from all the challenges that 2008 threw at me

Good luck to you all as we start to reflect on the old and New Years, and wishing everyone all the very best as we approach 2009 :D

Its been an emotional year this year as a parent, helping my ES with things he shouldn't have to be going through. Its not all bad though, we have good times in between the sad times. Had some lovely holidays and spent time with some lovely people.

Hopefully next year will be good.

I guess the biggest change for me this year was E starting school, my little girl all grown up :( . I still have H at home to keep me company so it isn't all bad. In all other ways life has been quite stable and uneventful so long may it last.

I hope everyone has a happy and peaceful 2009.

We have had a few years with deaths in the family so i am thankful that 2008 was a happier year :D

hubby and me took our first holiday on our own in 23years to Corfu :D it was soo good :D

money for us is better than it has been for a very long while even with the credit crunch and we have been going out at weekends having little treats which have been lacking for a few years.

2009 hmm, hubby works for GM so things are looking worrying there but he already has a job interview to go to as he has decided to leave before he is shoved.

I booked another holiday straight after we came back from the first to the same place :D and we are hoping to go camping to Scotland too

Ohhh how could i forget ......more chickens :D:D:D

What a nice idea for a thread 8) .

I've not had a great year and I don't expect next year to be a whole lot better but I will look to the positives and just deal with the negatives as they happen. I'm lucky that my immediate family life is just fine - my OH, my boys, my pets and my friends are a constant source of enjoyment and I don't mind going to work every day so that can't be bad! The forum is a daily source of entertainment and I've enjoyed being part of it for over a year now 8) .

I hope 2009 is a good year for everyone  .

We've had a busy but lovely year. :D

Me & OH both turned 40.

This time last year we had no pets - we now have 1 dog, 5 chickens and 4 guinea pigs! :D

We have had a French exchange student over to stay.

We have also had our Belarus girl to stay for 4 weeks in the summer.

Oldest son went on a trip to Japan, also learnt to drive, passed his test and now has his own little car.

I became a governor at DD's school.

OH's business is doing really well.

We have started the fostering process.

....and joined the Omlet community.

Next year? Who knows? Bring it on.....!

Quite an eventful year for me too really. Met and fell in love with my OH, moved out from my parents and started renting our own little cottage together. Got a little payrise at work, bought my very own car (lovely berlingo!) and am very happy and contented indeed!

Next year? Who knows, my contract at work runs out in September, as am only a trainee not entirely sure if it will be renewed but they may keep me on for another years training and pay for an Advanced National Certificate, that is of course if I pass my exams in April!! OH and I plan to get a polytunnel up on the field and make a start on growing lots of organic veggies to sell at local farmers markets, and maybe get a nice flock of chickens up there too. So who knows, all in all a lot to look forward to me thinks. :D

This year has been eventful:

Operation in Jan

New (local) job in March

Meningitis in May

Wet soggy camping in August

Local job moved to non-local area in Sept

Credit crunch making itself felt from Sept

BUT things can always be worse  Looking forward to 2009

Happy Christmas and all very best wishes for the New Year!
