I've only just caught up with this thread . I can't believe grown adults can behave like that . I'm so sorry and I really hope you find Frenchie or at least find out what happened to her. It must be torture not knowing .

No news & yes the worse thing is not knowing if she is still alive. If she had just died or been taken by a fox, I could accept that. But the possibility of murder & us not knowing makes me sick to the stomach with worry. If she is alive, she will be so distressed as she is also a good layer & will panic where to lay her egg. Then there is the food & water, which most water is frozen at the moment. Poor Frenchie. She is also quite bare from moulting.

We have now got a padlock on the shed, but theives could steal from the eglus & cube. Omlet need to desperately invent locking eglus & cubes.....pleeeeeeeeaaaase!

We are going out looking for her again soon. I don't hold out much hope though.

Only just got back and read your thread. I'm so sorry to hear about Frenchie. I know how awful it is to have a pet stolen and just not know what has happened to them. I do hope you have good news of her soon. Will be thinking of you.

Just read this thread and I am gobsmacked, and truly . I hope you find her, you must be beside yourselves.

 

I hope the police can find you some answers, It's just unblievable that these were grown adults doing this , were they high?

 

If the police find anyone responsible I hope they can march them round them round to your door like they would a child, to appologise, and see for themselves the beauty and character of your other girls.

 

Maybe then, they will get an inkling of what they have done, and the upset and trauma they have caused.

I've heard nothing more from the police. Made some more notices to put through doors of where the party was, making them aware that is has been reported & is now a crime. I keep walking round hoping that she will come out from under a bush.

The other chickens were odd yesterday. We have 3 chickens just come into lay, that live in the enclosure, but in an eglu. The others wander round them & did not get on with them. But last night they all went in the shed together..like comforting one another - they are now friends & hubby has had to build a new perch. Bless them!

I feel so low & upset. There are some evil people about.

I do hope she went home with sombody and is living with them instead of her wandering around..

 

She may be in that persons flat..?

Maybe set up a reward for her..

I would be more than happy to help.. And even if the reward money cannot help her back home possibly give it to the Battery Hen Welfare Trust..

Your local TV or radio station may well be interested in a story like this, or even some of the tabloids who love a story when news times are lean and it is a suitably sad and a horrible Christmas story.

 

It is a long shot but with the right publicity it might get her back.

 

It really is worth a try, they can only say no.

Quick update I'm afraid!

Whilst I was up the road posting the notices through the doors, a family called at my house. When I got back they were still there talking to my hubby. They had seen a chicken head down the footpath & some other bits. Hubby went and has brought her head back, just to show me it was her. Otherwise I would not have accepted it true. So she had been stolen for fun, escaped & then an animal has had her. I presume she was alive yesterday & got ate last night. R.I.P little Frenchie - you died at someone elses expense, fun & stupidity.
