Ain't Nobody Here
I do kind of recognise him now, seeing clips of things he's been in.
alexgirl73
Not impressed at all He's far too young looking. How on earth can he play someone who is 900 years old?
Scramble
I recognise him but I've no idea where from

miffy
well never heard of him , not surprising as we rarely watch tv. He looks young but has a look of Henry Cooper sort of 50's somehow according to OH anyway

Janepie33
I was really disapointed to start off with as I'd set my heart on Patterson Joseph, but as Matt talked, he rather grew on me. Have to wait untill spring 2010 to find out what he is like as the doctor!
Egluntyne
I rather took to him. He has the necessary quirkiness. Would have liked Paterson Joseph though.

bronze
Ok he can act but I wanted to be able to fancy the doctor. No fair I'm only a year older than him and he looks like a baby to me. Bring on the next series of spooks I have some lusting to do.

Lesley
For those of you who don't already know - Carl is a big Tom Baker fan...... (house full of boxed Daleks......original BBC scarves......Tardis.........books..... ) I was surprised, but he thinks whatsisname will make a good Doctor - I mentioned that a couple of you had said he was too young and his reply was "he's 27, going on 40"
Fizzle Knit
I'm a bit hazy on the middle doctors' chronology but it seems to be that the Doctor gets younger with each regeneration. Is this a deliberate thing so that his final regeneration is as a baby and then he can be no more? Re the new doc, very glad it was neither James Nesbitt or Richard Hammond - I would definitely not have been watching with either of those! Rona
I watched the whole programme last night with the writers and producers talking about it before they made the announcement. They said that they saw Matt Smith right at the begining of the first day of the audition process and he was just so perfect for the role that they could have offered him the part there and then but felt they ought to carry on and do a proper job of looking for a new doctor. It took them another 3 weeks of seeing really good actors to decide that it really had to be Matt Smith. Apparently, the way he delivered the lines in the audition and his quirky attitude made them believe that he has been around a long time and could really be 900 years old. I suppose if the creators believe it then hopefully we will too
Chook n Boo Mum
I only really like Sean in his Sharpe outfit Me too, can't really get to grips with his "Bond baddie" or any of his other nasties (can't even remember the names of the things he's been in !) I think he does period rough & ready goodie very well though...... At one stage I nearly got a rifle like the one he shoots in Sharpe, but it was too expensive (and would need cleaning too regularly !) & I got one I can compete successfully with instead - reality beats obsession!! Would love one of his green jackets though... shame I'm not buying anything new isn't it, but if I found one in a charity shop........ ?! Back to the thread....we missed Dr Who last night & have never seen the new boy before, so we will reserve judgement...... Sha x
Bantambabe
I've not seen Matt Smith in anything and must admit my initial reaction was that he looked like an extra from Buffy - it's that huuuuge forehead. However, the few clips they showed of him actually acting seemed to show that he could walk the walk so better reserve judgement and enjoy the four 2009 specials. Let's face it - no established actor in their right mind would agree to follow DT; it could be professional suicide. Is this the penultimate Dr tho? According to Dr Who folklore, timelords can only have 12 regenerations
Valkyrie
Well that's the first time I've seen him. At least he looks better than William Hartnell!

According to Dr Who folklore, timelords can only have 12 regenerations ah but, a little known fact is that they can 'absorb' extra lifes from other timelords, so perhaps got some from The Master, or somewhere else I don't think they'll let it stop at 12 do you?
