Guest
it's something I've wanted to do for a while but I needed the doc to confirm it was okay. He thinks it's a great idea and I'm so happy I'l be doing something worthwhile! Ian keeps teasing me, using that quote from 'League of Gentlemen' but I don't care

missuscluck
Brilliant. That sounds good. I love a good charity shop. Dont start dressing in old granny dresses though that you have picked up in the shop We have an oxfam near to the bank and I pop in lots. I collect honey pots and brightly colourd jugs and sometimes find some good stuff. You can snap up any chickenalia too. James buys albums and singles sometimes. I bet it will be really interesting and rewarding. Well done. Enjoy it. When do you start?

Seagazer
Well done, I keep trying to convince my mum to volunteer in a shop. It will keep her a bit more busy!! This from a girl that chickened out (no pun intended) when I contacted my local volunteer office

Guest
Ooooh I buy most of my clothes in charity shops, have to say BHF isn't one of my faves they label "premium brands" and charge extra, which is NOT on as far as I'm concerned, not when half their premium is "Next" and red dotted where it was in the sale then bought and not worn, then in this BHF store for more than Next sold it at!! Might just be this one store though. I have a couple of fave shops where I pick up REAL premium brands and they do charge a little extra for them but not excessively (leather Karen Millen trousers for £8.50!!) I love picking nick naks and Chickenalia up too! You'll enjoy it Poet, long as you don't get the moaners like me in!!! (our local Oxfam - my least favorite - has a blue bowl in which is Ikea and they have it at £10 - DOUBLE the Ikea price!!!!!!!!!!)

Ain't Nobody Here
Ian keeps teasing me, using that quote from 'League of Gentlemen' but I don't care Just tell him you'll ask everyone "are you local?" .
Guest
I chose the BHF because I (as some of you know) have a dodgy ticker, so it felt like the right one to choose. There was no cancer care shop near me, that would have been the other choice (because of dad). I'm going to be working on the till but they're going to give me a stool to sit on as I can't stand up for long. I wonder if staff are allowed first dibs on the good stuff It's only 10 minutes away from where I live. It was either that or the tea shop at the hospital (run by the WRVS) but the hospital is a bit too far away. I'll let you know how it goes. Volunteering for a good cause is something I've wanted to do for ages, I think it will be really interesting

Plum
Good for you Poet, you can have a good rummage when no-one is watching. Can you watch out for a wooden ikea shoe rack for my chooks. Will be interested to hear how it goes.

xChicken04x
Weldone you! I would love to do some charity work too, as I haven't been well over the past 3 years or so I would like to do something worth while, until I get my self properly better. I'm considering going to a local children's farm (they have chooks ) and help out there. They also have pigs, goats, turkeys, sheep, rabbits, ducks, geese, guinea fowl and a donkey. No doubt I'll be on poo duty but never mind .
