Lewis
I put it out on twitter... Julia Kendell, BHWT patron, retweeted it to her followers to tell them about it and tweeted me back! "That's appalling Lewis. I'll look into it. Thanks for the heads up." Hopefully thats a bit more support and that something comes from it... Also emailed BHWT and will let you know if I get a reply. Guest
Sent: 14 January 2011 13:11To: 'nikki@jimmysfarm.com' Subject: cadbury creme egg Dear Jimmy I am writing to you because you are on of the patrons of the BHWT and in a better position than me to get an answer to the following issue. In 2008 Compassion in World Farming awarded Cadburys a ‘good egg award’ for their promise to move over to using free range eggs in their crème eggs. Me and several other concerned friends have been contacting Cadbury (now Kraft) every year and asking whether this change has happened and we keep getting told they have had trouble sourcing a supply but that the change is imminent. Other friends have been told the change has already happened but we can find no confirmation of this on their web site and we would have thought they’d be shouting it from rooftops or at least stating it in their adverts. Because of the conflicting information and the lack of evidence, we don’t believe the change has occurred. Please would you investigate and let me and my concerned friends know what’s going on with regards to this. Many thanks Justine http://www.jimmysfarm.com/index.cfm/fa/contact

Lewis
Just had an email from Jane Howorth, founder of the BHWT!!
Tutti Frutti
I've emailed CIWF asking if they've ever retracted a Good Egg Award and if they would consider doing so to name and shame Cadbury and stop them dragging their feet
Guest
Just had an email from Jane Howorth, founder of the BHWT!! are you not going to tell us what she said???
Lewis
...And you're quite right about Cadburys, it's very frustrating and we do have plans to take this issue up if they don't announce a free range creme egg by this Easter. I appreciate your support in writing to them, we will possibly ask our supporters to help us with a campaign again if we don't hear positive news very soon. Thanks. Best wishes Jane Howorth
Guest
I've mailed her twice and heard nothing, but at least you got a response, well done and at least we know they're on the case!
Guest
Jane's replied to say the BHWT are looking into this but in the meantime i did post this on 'Kraft Foods' facebook site and just been notified of the following reply... http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=7706527&l=7d9f25b93c&id=568396756 for those that can't view photos, here's the tex of their response... Kraft Foods - Corporate Justine, sorry I’m not posting my picture with this reply, but my profile isn’t working properly. Thanks for your question. I’m pleased to let you know that we followed through on our 2008 commitment – all UK and Ireland Cadbury Crème Eggs are made with free range eggs. Guest
Hi Justine, Thank you for the mail and my apologies for the tardy reply. I am of the understanding that Cadburys have indeed changed to free range, but I am undergoing further investigation to confirm this. If it transpires that this is untrue, I will do my utmost to raise awareness of the fact on the run up to their busiest time of year. Thank you for bringing this to my attention, and I'll keep you posted. Kind regards, Julia Julia Kendell

Egluntyne
I can't believe that Kraft would issue such a statement if it was not true.
Lewis
I can't believe that Kraft would issue such a statement if it was not true. Hmm They have said in the past years in emails that they've gone FR (or given conflicting answers) though haven't they?
bluekarin
I can't believe that Kraft would issue such a statement if it was not true. Aren't they the ones who said no jobs would go from Cadburys......... If it was true, you'd think they'd shout it from the roof tops say in an advert (telly or mag). I hope it is
Cinnamon
....yep,like Hellmans did last year when they changed their mayonnaise over to FR.
Guest
just got this on twitter from CIWF ciwf @BarefacedPoet Reassurance from @Kraft "all UK and Ireland creme eggs use free range eggs and have done so for over a year" GoodEggAward ok isn't it odd that there's no mention of free range eggs on their creme egg web page and no mention on the ads
redbug
when I go to the shops next I will look at the ingrediants.

Christian
That's what I though WH. They admit there is only a tiny bit of egg in their Creme eggs (weird I know).
redbug
On the boxes it does not say Free range. Only dried egg. I would have thought if it was FR eggs it would be mentioned. Sounds very strange.
