freespiritbutterfly
Ive always wanted to to meterology however after much research i found out that to do this you need to do alevels in Maths and physics. But i am now thinking that i should go back and do alevels in environmental scicence, maths and another of which i am undecied. I don't think that im especially smart however i'm going on the theory if you want it bad enough you can do it. I was just wondering what everyone else thinks Do you think that my "theory" would work? This is all ive really wanted to do since i was 7 ?? Thanks in advance for any thoughts shared. BeckyBoo
Go for it! Good grief, in my world you've set your sights REALLY high, but then I got a C in O level maths and my teacher told me I didn't really deserve that I really do believe that you can achieve most things if you want them enough and if you want it that much you SHOULD try because otherwise you'll be sitting in your rocking chair one day, old and grey saying, "I wonder if I COULD have done it" or "What if I HAD tried?" So give it your best shot and enjoy every minute, sounds like a long-term project but the very best of luck to you! BeckyBoo
Plum
If you need physics why don't you do A level physics. Best to look it up and see what the universities are asking for. Environmental science is a very broad subject but will give you options. Go for it. It's good to have a dream. If you need physics and think you are not clever enough, don't worry think of it as a hobby and you'll enjoy it and cope. It will be so interesting. redhotchick
Definitely pursue this. If it's what you want, you have to try. Life is too long to settle for something that isn't what you want. Go for it!
dancing cloud
Definitely go for it and pursue your dream! One of my friends went to university to do her degree in English at 67 and she loved every minute of it, including being everyone's "granny" . It was her dream to be the first in her family to get a degree and off she went and did it
Chickvic
Go for it! Like BeckyBoo said - you'll always wonder what could have been
Guest
Go for it. I@m a firm believer that you can do anything if you set your mind to it and make it a goal to work for. Actually I don't just believe that - I live that way and it WORKS!
PapaJuliet
If you REALLY want this go for it. Otherwise you will always regret it. A couple of years ago a friend sent me a song which is a good motto to live by... "If you get a chance to sit it out or dance... I hope you dance" Don't just sit on the sidelines and watch everybody else having fun... get up and DO IT!!! PJ
Sheilaz
Definitely aim high if you have a goal in mind. Mathematics and Physics at A level, followed by a strong degree in that area will be requirements, so those are your objectives. If it turns out that you find you are better suited to something else along the way, that's fine, it's never a failure. But to keep working towards a dream gives you a good focus and will open the door to opportunities, whether in that specific field or something else. If those subjects or the degree become unrealistic as you progress you'll know you've tried your best and maybe the job wouldn't be right for you, but hard work can achieve great things! Also, if it's what you want to do, it will be hard but enjoyable! There may be other related careers that you haven't even heard of yet, so I'd say always follow your ambition if you have one, then you won't have shut any doors & other surprising ones may open. Meteorology...wow! Best wishes in whatever you go for, and do keep us posted.
Seagazer
Go for it. My daughter did maths, french and physics A level even though her stuffy physics teacher told her that girls can't do physics as well as boys She proved him wrong
chickencam
A fascinating subject, go for it, it's your dream and only you can make it come true
