miffy
We just had someone ring the doorbell and ask where the beach is this happened just before 11pm. We live in a group of 5 houses on a pretty quiet road with beaches 1.5 & 2 miles away (opposite directions). I'm so glad OH and YS were here, it was a young lad Oh said he looked shabby. He claimed he didnt know where the beach was and he was supposed to be meeting his friends there. wierd or what!!!! we do have road signs, not many admittedly, but we do have them. I feel quite unsettled by this incident.
Guest
maybe they're going midnight skinny dipping? Joking aside, that is odd! If you are worried give your local police station a call and report it.
jackiepoppies
Hi Miffy. I would be feeling unsettled by this as well. Not that long ago we wouldn't have been so suspicious. Make sure all your doors are locked and there is nothing lying around that could be lobbed through a window. Sometimes leaving a downstairs light on deters unwelcome visitors. Try to not worry. Chook n Boo Mum
How odd, wonder why he'd want to meet anyone at the beach so late on a grotty old night like tonight. And as for knocking on someone's door after dark - I'd have to be desperate to do that (probably watched too many horror films as a youngster ) Make sure everything's safely locked up before bed, just to be sure... miffy
Thanks,we have been around checking doors and windows. We are not very security minded to be honest, doors all lock but none of the windows. Reluctant to bother the police, there is flooding around and wind are very strong I think they will have other things on their minds. I'm glad we have Millie, she will bark at anything and lick them into submission if they try to get in I just keep thinking HOW VERY ODD

Egluntyne
Could have been casing the joint and that was his cover story should any one be in. Hope all is OK this morning.
Cooks
Could have been casing the joint and that was his cover story should any one be in. Groovychook
It could have just been a case of him arranging to meet his mates on the beach to go & experience the wild weather forecast down here... a popular pastime in these parts! Cooks
yes but my thoughts are who really would tap on someones door in fear of waking them up/disturbing them at that time of night, wouldn't you ask someone in a late night shop/petrol station etc etc etc highly suspect to me
miffy
we have survived the night, not been murdered in our beds nor burgled. We both had a rather restless night to be honest . Couldnt wake up this morning. Guess they were just lost!!
Valkyrie
I think it was just bad planning on the part of the teenager. They are known around here as "gatherings", where they all meet up. Unfortunately although they are capable of working on the computer for all sorts of things, none of them seem to work out maps, timetables of trains, buses etc, so they end up walking miles and getting a bit lost although they know the general area of where they want to go. They also seem to run out of credit on their phones so can't ring or text friends - if they think of doing that! Many a time we have had calls to call someone else's phone to find where they are meeting up. DD's phone is nearly always switched off. We had to pick up DS and girlfriend when it was raining during that very cold spell a while ago because they missed the train home from Pompey - mainly because they got lost trying to find the station. Wanted them to suffer, but I didn't want them to get hypothermia waiting on the platform all night either. As it was they had been exposed for about 3 hours. Took towels to wrap around them - she didn't have a coat, so DS wrapped his around her, so he was frozen. Both had baths when we got home at about 3 in the morning! I bet if you go to the beach, you will find a little bonfire where they made camp. They really have the daftest ideas at times.
The Dogmother
How odd, I'd be suspicious too. Glad that you're OK though. Might be worth contacting the police though with a description of the lad - might be someone they're keeping an eye on.
craftyhunnypie
It might have been a prank, probably put up to it by his mates..a sort of dare (saddo)! Either that or they were going to do some dodgy dealing or witchy rituals on the beach. The mind boggles! Emma.x
chelsea
I would be unsettled also if that happened to me. What an odd time of night? Just keep your wits about you for a bit.
