Egluntyne
Am having one of these delivered next week. Gardman 6' x 8'. £299. Reduced at a local garden centre from £399. I've just seen it marginally cheaper online, but not a significant enough difference to make me gnash my teeth. Also got some half price shelving. Am giddy with excitement. Cooks
*holds out arms to steady Egluntine* That's really lovely!, I like the green look to it. Rather than the normal silver I mean. What are your plans then??? *pulls up chair*
Snowy
Oooh, I was looking at those the other day in the garden centre! Very nice! (I'm as green as the greenhouse - I want one! )
Chookiehen
We had one of them at our last house, and I was gutted when we had to leave it behind. Is yours coming with polycarbonate glazing, as shown in the picture? We had problems with ours in the wind (we were on a very exposed spot!), and had to anchor down the panes with hundreds of extra clips, and we also had problems with the door - the wheels broke easily, and we had a flapping door for quite a while. 8 x 6 is a great size though - I'm quite jealous! Olly
Wow, brilliant! Your chickens will love it in there ... er, I mean, great, what are you going to grow in there? I allow my ladies in from about October-March, so they can dustbath in the dry and warm and because I don't use it over the winter. They will be banned from next weekend though when I start putting seedlings out there!
chickencam
We have a very similar one but in silver, would much rather have green, having said that ours is green with algae and is on the list for a good clean this weekend. We paid £199 for ours from B&Q but that was 4 years ago (OH's 40th birthday pressie) and things have gone up a lot since then and I think silver ones are always cheaper. Have fun, just in time for sowing .We got really carried away the first year and ended up with a jungle.
Egluntyne
Haven't formulated any plans beyond tomatoes peppers aubergines coriander etc, but plan to have a good read over the w/e. Shona...the spot isn't too windy, and the panels are polywotsit, but useful tip about the extra clips, thanks. I'll get some in. The Garden centre sells all sorts of extras, including replacement panels. BTW...this is my belated Christmas/birthday present combined. The Dogmother
I am soooo envious - I'd love a greenhouse! It's a good looking one too, as the others have said, the green is less inyerface than the traditional silver. Where will it go?

We spent a memorable Hogmany chasing a couple of our panels round the village a few years ago! That said, it was a fantastic greenhouse - the polycarbonate panels are just as efficient as glass, and we had fantastic success in ours. Egluntyne
Where will it go? Top end of the garden. I'm pinching a bit of the hen's area. They'll never notice!
The Dogmother
Ahhh, up the slope then. Be prepared for them to invade it! Our neighbours a couple of doors down once put up one of those greenhouses that looks like a real one but just has a plastic tarp type finish. Our gardens are prone to a strong southwesterly bombing across the gardens, so another neighbour and I were laying bets as to how long it would last... sure enough, first high wind and the thing took off like the house in Yellow Brick Road and ended in a garden at the end of the road! Tragic, but we wet ourselves laughing. I look forward to hearing about your crops Egluntine

I've been mulling it over for a while, but when you got yours (plus I'd been looking at them in the garden centre) and I realised there was not going to be any cheaper options around, I thought 'what am I waiting for?' Thanks for the 'push'

missuscluck
Brilliant Egluntine and Snowy. You will have lots of fun with your greenhouses this season. I lurrrve my greenhouse. Its a bit small at 6x4. I think now I should have got a bigger one. I would love a really big one that I could sit in. I guess if it was bigger I would move in though and watch the plants grow as I get a bit obsessed with watching my seedlings and get overexited when they pop their little heads out of the soil. Its nearly as addictive as the Omlet forum.
