Online shopping

Recommended Posts

not for the fun stuff like beads and clothes and music, but for the Big Food Shop. I have just spent nearly 2 hours trying to do an order with Adsa so I could get on with my day and have more time to do other things. HA. Fat chance. It has taken me longer to try and get my list together, than it would for me to walk to the shop, buy the food, get a cab home and put it all away

So what I am asking is do any of you shop this way, who do you use, realistically how long did it take you to do your first order (Asda said 30-45mins), and how close is the quoted price (mine seems really high for what seems like a normal shop  )

Thanking you all very much :D

I feel your pain :( It took me ages to do my very first online shop with Sainsburys, probably a couple of hours  However once you do the first shop it becomes soooo much easier because your shopping list is 'saved' and you can just refer back to it the next time, adding or omitting as you go. Takes me about 10 minutes to do an online shop now :) Not sure about the price thing it seems pretty much the same as when I did it by hand so to speak, I always spend £100 then I get free delivery :)

Hi, I haven't done the food online for a while and the first one always takes the longest, after that it's MUCH quicker as you generally find you use the same stuff month in and month out. I used Sainsburys and they're pricing wasn't bad, and you still got the 2 for 1's and the BOGOF's etc.

I likes it, but having gone back to weekly shop I think I save more as I only buy what I KNOW I need and not what I think I MIGHT need for a month.

Good luck! At least you weren't dragging round the supermarket kids in tow being distracted by men in suits trying to get you to change your electricity supplier when all you actually wanted was some bread rolls and a packet of tampax! If I wanted to change my electricity supplier, I would contact another electricity supplier, not go looking in the womens sanitary department!!

I use Waitrose Deliver. At first it took 2 hours to find all I wanted. But after that it's much easier and as I'm a creature of habit I just dump last weeks order in the trolley, take out the odd item I don't, and add a few bits and look at the special offers. Or sometimes I save an online list eg. "cleaning stuff" for things I only buy once a month, click on the list and just add the saved item to the trolley. So it gets quicker each time. I suspect most online companies have similar type set ups.

I could not survive without online grocery shopping (I hate going to do shopping of any kind).

Yes your first shop is long and painful, but next time you shop you can see your last weeks shopping lists and start adding/deleting off of that one for the following weeks. Sainsburys online shopping remembers all your "favourites" so I am sure Asda will so you can add and delete as required.

I dont have much trouble with substitutions and Sainsburys now offer 1 hour "slots" so I am not sat waiting for the delivery man for 2 hours.

love it. :D

I did shop online with Tesco but I got fed up with nonsensical substitutions.

However, having said that, I must echo other posts to say that once you have done your first shop your favourites are saved and subsequent outings should be easier.

I now shop daily at the local market and just stock the freezer with free range meat monthly.

I do appreciate how lucky I am in that respect as most people wouldn't have the time and or perhaps the inclination.

I use Asda.

I have tried most of the big stores online services and found Asda are best.

Sainsburys was the worst ever, rarely on time loads of subs and on quite a few ocassions they would ring just before due delivery time and say they could not deliver and can I wait until tomorrow. I politely would say not on your nelly :) The last time I used them my shopping arrived 5 hours late in the back of a taxi

Suffice to say I never used them again :evil::evil::evil:

Asda rarely substitute products and if they do and the thing they sub is more expensive they will always price check it and charge the lower price.

The website is easy to use (they are rolling out a new one as well). They have most of the instore offers and they are very reliable.

I use them once a month for all the bulky items tins, loo roll, cereals, alcohol  etc.

Ocado are brilliant. The first times it took me longer (because I was doing big 'trolleyfulls'. Now I subscribed to the pay-ahead-and-get-as-many-deliveries-as-you-want so it's really fast and I only spend just over £40 per shop.

They are very punctual with their 1 hour slots and text me beforehand to let me know the name of the driver and the van they're using.

I've only had a couple of substitutions in the 6ish deliveries I had so far and both times were very appropriate.

:)

For large quantities we go to Cosco about once every 2 months and for fresh fruit and veg to the local farm shop.

A couple of years ago I decided to give the Sainsburys site a go. It was xmas and as I work full-time I thought it would be a brilliant idea. I sat at work a day or so before xmas day - everybody saying that they had to rush out after work and do their xmas food shopping, I sat there, smug - turkey was being collected from Waitrose that very afternoon and I had done my food shop online at sainsburys and had a delivery time of 3pm that afternoon, smugly I told everyone that while I was on my way home from work, my children would be busily putting it all away for me....... when I got home all hell had broken loose! The brussel sprouts were yellow, half the normal xmas goodies hadnt been delivered and there were no sausage rolls so they had substituted vegetable rolls! I was so disappointed, I had to jump in my car and dash round to several different supermarkets to grab the important bits and pieces...... that smug smile was definitely wiped off my face!

I use Goodness Direct every six weeks or so. They are brilliant, the site is easy to use and they phone if there are any problems. After the first order it is really quick to use and all regular items are stored in a favourites list.

I have all the heavy Ecover stuff from them, canned goods, rice, pasta, nuts, fruit.......

I LOVE Ocado, Bluekarin - I would definitely give them a try. They hardly ever substitute, are punctual and friendly, and text me a reminder on the day, plus the registration mark of the van (and which fruit/veg pic wil be on the side!) and the name of the driver. The first shop and setting up an account does take ages whoever you choose, but it's much faster on subsequent visits.

In fact, Christopher in strawberry van should be with me in approx. 2 hours' time!
