just to let you all know, I have had a reply form James at Omlet who says .........

Hi Pam,

Thanks for your email. Thanks also for sending the forum thread about cube nest modification. I think that this is a great idea and would be of really benefit. We are always keen to improve the product and the design team are looking at it :)

Yours,

James

so I'm keeping everything crossed that the boys can come up with something :D :D

think I should be entitled to a freebie for all my effort :D

it shouldn't be hard to design the moulds, just rejig the current mould and 1 extra for the divider

I think the work will come when trying to design a method of attaching them together without the need for screws, possibly a similar design to those slot together shelving brackets ?

here's hoping

Now that I know Omlet are seriously considering this, I asked DH to make me one with marine ply, to try and stop the problems we've been having with Jasmine and the proprietry feelings she has for the nestbox.

We fitted it this evening, so fingers crossed for a more peaceful tomorrow!

I love the design but at the moment I am fine with the current omlet design as mine are not nestbox possesive, the tend to let Sugar lay first (top hen) and then dory and Cocoa lay together and then Flo follows later... harmony.. at the moment! :D

I do think Omlet should maybe still keep the current design as an option as I like the big nestbox, but I can see how the new seperated design would help others. :D

Great idea......none of my 11 lay in the cube!!......they queue up to lay in the empty lilac eglu and the 2 young Dottes lay on the floor behind one of the run doors. They're in for a big shock at the weekend when the chicks go out to the lilac eglu run.....it will be closed off and they'll be running around with legs crossed until they remember that the purple eglu and cube can both be laid in

Its a back door in the weld mesh i am after.... it would be so much easier to get a separate grub in and for cleaning. one of our girls is a bit of a foodie and sometimes guards the grub, but this way i could easily put one at each end.... she couldnt guard both then and harmony would break out!!!

We made this using a cube run door. I'll go and see if I can find a photo...

hello .... has anyone had an update on whether or not Omlet are planning to do a version of the nest box divider ? .... I'm having ongoing issues with an almost always broody hen and a couple of my girls just won't use the box when she is in & are laying in the roosting area where eggs are getting broken

hi, first post for me. im also interested in knowing if this will go into production. currently deciding between a cube or a wooden alternative but this would sway it in favour of the cube as to me it is the only drawback other than cost.

So after making a cardboard template, I took a pair of scissors to a plastic table place mat, hole punched some holes in the corners and tie wrapped it into the cube (I don't use the egg-port so it's not a problem for me to attach it to the handle of that). I'm very :D but I'll see in the morning if the girls like it or are :evil::evil:

My mum's builder made me one it's based on the shape of the original but with 2 holes and the divider between which sits on top of the nesting material. It's storted out the nest box squabbles as one will wait next door while the prefered side is occupied (they still only lay on one side  ). Much quieter and quicker as all the tooing & froing and bobbing up and down the ladder has stopped. Brilliant.
