dancing cloud
Well that got your attention, but there's no other way to describe just how bald two of the three heavenly hens are. At least one has a few fluffy feathers to preserve her modesty! Here they are:- Sky flaunting feathers Sun Moon Sky looking shocked to see a full Moon during the day Over-exposure Up till yesterday morning, Sun hadn't eaten more than a mouthful in total and I wouldn't have given high odds on her survival, but then I served pellet-porridge with a dressing of dried mealworms and sweetcorn and she found her appetite . After two days of stuffing her beak and going to bed with a full crop, she now looks a lot brighter and I am a lot happier. They all now look perkier than in the photos (taken on Sunday) and have pinker wattles and a hint of colour in their combs. Moon is currently picked-on chicken, Sky is the brains of the outfit and Sun looks like being a little thug! There's been less shouting and bawling from the little monsters today, but there's a long way to go before peace breaks out. Seeing them next to the heavenlies shows how far the heavenlies have to go and what gorgeous big healthy girls the little monsters are now (even if they still lack sense! )
Daphne
well done you - it never fails to astound me how horrible people can be to hens and how wonderful people like you are to rescue them; I feel quite useless in comparison. Go girls, enjoy this weather, a bit of sun on our backs does wonders for all of us

sparkysmum
Poor wee things I'd almost forgotten how poorly newly rescued batts look. Hoping for a warm summer for them. As I watched mine sunbathing today I thought of how batt lives are and how lucky those are who get a second chance. Allisonx

mostin
Those are some very bald botties . I'm glad they're coming around and eating properly now. You've got me all revved up again now. I've been trying to remain calm about my 4 girls I should be getting at the end of this month, if the rescue goes to plan, but now I can't wait for them to arrive . I keep looking out at the sun and thinking of my girls-to-be somewhere in the dark . Hopefully mine will be playing out in th sune soon, just like yours are .
