some of you may remember that I recently traced my Moms brother and his family and have been meeting with my new cousin, I had not yet met my aunt & uncle, last night he was taken into hospital with sever bleeding from his bowel. He is in ITU having had a huge op lasting 7 hours, my cousin rang me to let me know. Quite a shock, we were taking things slowly because he is a very shy man, I so hope he is OK, he & my Mom have a lot of catching up to do

What a shame, poor man . I hope the op is successful. Had your mum managed to meet up with him before this happened?

my cousin told me that Mom & uncle had met up several times during the last few months, they both have allotments and have been meeting there, I don't have any contact with mom anymore (long story) but I'm glad that they found eachother after 60 years, each thought that the other may have died already and because neither of them can read did not know where to start looking. Luckily my cousin & I were both on the internet.

Sorry to hear about your uncle. It must have been a shock to hear about it.

 

My grandma has just had an op to remove her bowel cancer and it seems to have gone well and she is in a ward now.

Bit late catching up with this but I hope that the op went ok.

He is still in ITU but stable so far so good. My cousin is not sure how he will cope with a colostomy but given how poorly he has been it's the last thing he'll need to worry about. Apparently he had been bleeding from his back passage for months and had lost some weight but did not tell anyone and although I do not know exactly what happen it sounds suspiciously like bowel cancer.

he's not doing too well, did get onto high dependancy ward for a night but is now back in ITU on a ventilator, poor chap has pneumonia and a wound infection, doen't sound too good, my cousin rang me apparently my Mom is with him, so very sad

he is still on the ventilator this morning but stable, the Drs seem to think that his body has shut down due to the trauma of what has happened to him, the machine is keeping him breathing and he is sedated but his brain is still functioning - hopefully once his body has recovered enough from the shock he should do OK on his own

I just had an email from my cousin, uncle is off the ventilator and back in HDU so hopefully things will get better. My Mom has taken turns with his wife to stay with him - she doesn't speak to me anymore but my cousin says that Mom is OK at the moment
