Guest
¬--UPDATE!--- You should have seen his happy face - he was very pleased to see them and chuffed to bits when I said he got to name them. He was VERY unoriginal though. The Amber Star is Amber - same as our original Amber Star who died a month after we got her. The Blacker Black Peal is Pengy - because she looks like a penguin - we lost our previous "Pengy" to a fox at around this time last year (just checked it was 9th April). The whiter Black Pearl has been named "Eggy" after one of the chickens that have just been here on their holidays. They've tucked themselves nicely up in the Eglu tonight so no roosting! Three new chickens with no names. We got them after James went to his Dad's so they will be a surprise for him when he comes home and we are going to let him name them (although last time he wanted to call one "fire engine"). Two Black Pearls and an Amber Star Eggy Pengy Amber They have a little freeranging area around the Eglu - we set it up last week when we had holiday Chickens. Here they are beeing nosey'd at by our girls have been very good with them so far. Last night one of them tried to roost up the trellis - I had to go out and pop them all into the Eglu throught the Egg port. feemcg
Wow, the 1st Black Pearl has quite unusual colouring.......very nice. She must have been roosting quite high at the breeder/supplier.....they like to go high if that's what they're used to.
Janty
Lovely chickens and a lovely surprise for James. Is a Black Pearl the same as a Pied Suffolk? I was wondering the same thing as I've never heard of a black pearl but my in-laws have a pied Suffolk that is almost identical to one of Pengy's. Hen Watch
Love the pics..... AND love the names. James has chosen well. My children chose the names for our chooks which is why we have the totally original, one and only......... wait for it........ "Henny" . Bet no one else has a "Henny" or "Henrietta" . Tell James we have an "Amber" too (because she's and Amber Star hybrid, you see I can do original too....... )
