Egluntyne
Anyone watch this? I thought it was hysterical. A very promising start.

chickencam
I thought that it would be terrible and we only watched it because we had been watching Have I Got News For You which was also very funny tonight. It was really funny and a great update of the original. Our DS watched it with us and when it had finished we got out our Reggie Perrin DVD and watched episode 1 of that to compare the two. DS said that he preferred the modern one but they were both really funny
poachedegg
BLAST forgot!!! We did too, however it is repeated tonight - I think about 9.40.
Mrs Frugal
It must be true . I really HAVE lost my sense of humour as I found it abysmal. There is no hope for me anymore.
Guest
I didn't think I was interested but it came on after Have I got News For You and I enjoyed it! Will watch again!
Lesley
I liked it - I wasn't sure about watching it but as Egluntine says, it was promising.
Ain't Nobody Here
Didn't even know about it . I loved the original - do they still do a clip of a hippo for the MIL ? Off to set the box for tonight .
Cinnamon
It must be true . I really HAVE lost my sense of humour as I found it abysmal. There is no hope for me anymore. I thought it was awful too Kate, but my husband was hooting with laughter. Talking of laughter, I found the canned laughter they used very obtrusive & dated It really distracted from the show, & was surely not needed? Talking of laughter, I found the canned laughter they used very obtrusive & dated It really distracted from the show, & was surely not needed? I'm glad I'm not the only one. I thought it was dreadful too, nothing like the original - I know they have to update it for modern audiences, but I thought it was very crude which I don't remember the original being. I wish they would just come up with something new rather than trying to regurgitate classics! Each to their own though!!
Mrs Frugal
I am so glad it wasn't just me. I know my sense of humour has really gone awry lately but I sat there stony faced through the whole episode .
Lesley
Now I sat stony faced through Have I Got News For You which I thought was very spiteful with odd funny bits - so perhaps it was just a relief to watch the new Reggie!
Seagazer
I enjoyed Have I got News apart from one very tasteless joke at the end! I wasn't overly impressed with Reggie Perrin although my OH found it very funny. We both felt that the canned laughter was way too much. I might give it another go next week but I won't be upset if I miss it. I do like Martin Clunes though especially as Doc Martin.
Mrs Frugal
I loved Martin Clunes as Doc Martin and in Men Behaving Badly. Maybe it was the canned laughter which put me off as I hate being "told" when to laugh at what the writers think is funny. We'll probably end up watching it again next week as there is little else on thoug.h.

bluekarin
I'm not sure about the new Reggie Perrin as I really liked the original one. I am hoping he will get into his part a bit more and start to be more sarcastic. I didn't like the canned laughter either. Spoils things I find. But saying all that, I did laugh out loud a few times. I was hoping for a mention of the MIL and the hippo. Maybe in another episode. I loved HIGNFY but the MP annoyed me. I think that must be in their job title as a lot of them annoy me
Scramble
Just remember - from Reggie Perrin I had to say I laughed so much when he started cutting the topiary into a buuny and then the person whose house it was looked out the window! I don't know if I fully qualified to pass judgement though as I didn't see the original series, mum and dad did though and they still like the new one
Egluntyne
Anyone else spot the reference to Sunshine Desserts at the beginning of the episode?
