kitbag
Hi guys! Bad news - my gorgeous Laufie (miniature schnauzer) has been attacked, by this horrible jack russell. He has had at least half of his ear bitten off, and is really shaken up. I wasn't on my own when it happened (thank god), but my auntie was with me. The owner of the jack russell just walked off, no 'sorry' or anything, so my auntie chased him, and pretty much shouted at everyone near him to keep their children and dogs away from his dog, as it has just attacked ours. It was very upsetting, and Laufie is having an operation now. We got the mans details and we will be reporting him to the police later. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest! xx Edited May 8, 2009 by Guest
Guest
I'm glad you managed to get his details, what a 'bleep' to walk away and not care!!! Hope little laufie is okay, try some rescue remedy for the shock
wiblick
That is absolutely terrible! I hope your dog is okay. I have owned Jack Russels in the past and I love them but I cannot defend most owners of JRs, they never seem to have them on leashes or supervise them in any way, all my problems with dogs and my only ever bite have all been JRs. ..lay a little egg for me
Goodness kitbag, I thought it was YOU who had been attacked and hardly dared open the thread...was relieved to find you were OK. Some people seem to think it amusing if their dogs attack anything that moves. How distressing for you.

Ain't Nobody Here
How awful, poor Laufie . I'm so glad you got that man's details - I trust he'll pay for any vet's bills . I hope the op went OK and you've all got over the shock .
craftyhunnypie
Awww poor Laufie. Give Laufie a kiss from Aunty Em. X I can't believe the owner of the jack russell. They don't deserve to have animals with an attitude like that. It's obviosly a nasty little devil. You don't know if the owner trains it for dog fighting do you? Ugh! Hope Laufie is ok. I got bitten by a JR when I was little and had to have a tetanus, not nice when you're ickle Although all JRs aren't nasty, missuscluck has a lovely little chap Poor little Laufie, hope he's got some painkillers and lots of treats are in order I should think

Cooks
I am so pleased your dog is through the worst of it. I agree the owner should pay and I am very glad he is now doing do. Not all jack russells are like this though, not that I have one, but they are not, just like not all humans are the same. I have two dogs and have had dogs all my life so I know how hard it is when they are unwell for whatever reason. *hug*
cathybc
Poor Laufie, I hope you are both getting over the shock. Its also sad that the JR is not being looked after properly, ie if he is that vicious, he should be muzzled, if his behavoural problems can't be sorted out. kitbag
Quick update: Laufie is home and feeling much better! He has got a HUGE bone and is currently trying to eat it on my bed! Laufie says thank you all very much for your lovely replies. I think it's safe to say we won't be taking him back to that park again! Nutmeg
Sorry to hear about poor Laufie. Also contact your local Dog Warden and take photos of Laufie's injury as evidence incase the owner backs out. We had a similar experience when our Lurcher was attacked by a Springer Spaniel. The owner walked off, refused to pay the vet bill. The vet told us to report it to the Dog Warden as this may not be the first time the dog has attacked another dog. I'm afraid the Police did not want to know unless the dog had bitten a child or adult. Sending hugs to you and Laufie; it is a horrible experience. Seagazer
Sorry just seen this thread. How upsetting for you all. I'm glad Laufie is feeling better. I was walking Cookie in the meadows near us yesterday and a group of women had stopped in the woods and were chatting. One of their dogs started walking menacingly towards Cookie (who is the biggest wimp going) and chased her. She ran quite a long way back whilst barking. The owner looked at me and said "doesn't your dog like other dogs?" How was that my dog's fault? Blooming people get right on my nerves. Grr Sorry little rant over. I'm glad you managed to get his details though as it would be so unfair if you had to pay for the vets bills.

Chook n Boo Mum
What a horrible fright for you all ! Thank goodness your auntie was with you & chased after that dreadful person - if he'd have been a man he'd have stopped & offered his help instantly! I know several JRs who are absolutely lovely, but I still don't like/trust the breed or crosses of JR generally. Wrong of me?....... maybe but having had Tulip die in my arms after an attack by a JRX I'm not in a hurry to change my mind I hope Laufie heals nicely & doesn't suffer any ill effects in the future, {{{hugs}}} Sha x
