Old Speckled Hen
Hot clammy night broken by a hugely noisy cat fight outside the bedroom window. Have been mozzi attacked in my bed This morning it is hot and sticky, very still and overcast. Storm a brewin'
The Dogmother
Humid and very hot with thunder at 6pm yesterday. No rain overnight, but the waterbutts are still full. Cooler in the night and this morning, but cloudy now and expecting some more rain and humidity later. It wasn't much fun doing circuit training in that heat last night - the aircon in the room is poor anyway and was struggling to make any difference
Jillus
Thick Haar ( sea fog) and drizzle/mizzle for fourth day running. I wish the London based weathermen would stop going on about the heatwave we are all experiencing!

Regretting insulating the loft so well this winter as there is no where for the heat to go! Although when the rain returns im sure ill be moaning abt it so i think i better shut up!! Old Speckled Hen
Had a few very short showers but it's still humid. I'm going to make the downstairs( we're on three floors) bedroom up as it's really cool being a semi basement so at least we can get some sleep tonight. I have a lot of glass in the house so when the sun shines I open the windows a little following the sun with closed curtains. It's the bloomin flies that are annoying me at the moment. We're a funny lot us Brits. Never happy with the weather. Can you imagine having the same weather for months on end? Now that would be something to complain about. Valkyrie
Oh dear, and it's supposed to get even hotter, sorry about the misty bits in Scotland, if we could send some of this up to you we would - glad to share. So far today it was really sunny and blue, but the cloud came up from Basingstoke - we could see it in the distance - like a quilty blanket. As I took DD into college, it started to rain and got quite heavy - as we came back home (it was only a drop in so not long) we managed to out run it. It did spit a little at home, but not much. There is still a lot of white/grey clouds, but lots of blue in between so we get a mix of hazy and full on sun. Extremely hot and very humid. No air and yes, the wind is warm. abwsco
Well, we had the worst thunder and lightening and rain that DH has ever seen at 3.30am this morning. I slept through it and also through slept through more at 6.30. Am cross as I love watching a good storm.

chickencam
We had a cloudy humid day yesterday, I made a lot of jam because it was a bit cooler than Monday. Very hot and humid overnight and this morning. It was 24 degrees by 8.30am. The sun didn't come out until 9.30am and now my weather station is showing 30 degrees, it is in the middle of the garden in full sun, but then so I am I when I am putting the washing out and it is very hot. chickencam
The thermometer in my greenhouse was off the scale when I went out a minute ago to spray some water around
Valkyrie
Very hot here, but it doesn't feel as bad as yesterday. I don't know whether I woke up to a thunder headache this morning or whether it's because I stopped drinking coffee! There is more of a gusty wind now and again, but the sun is quite hazy behind cloud, although it is very bright.
Old Speckled Hen
It's like the tropics here. Poo picked and hosed the rest of the lawn down and everything is steaming. Have just planted my sweet potatoes into two bags in the greenhouse and I am absolutely dripping. I'm having a cold beer for lunch then a shower
Groovychook
My, it's hot... 35 in the shadiest bit of the garden... For any days I've missed posting a weather report... it's been boiling with no let up. A thunderstorm would be lovely now... the garden is parched! ali-s
Another hot day. Too hot to be working in a kitchen and then a sticky, sweaty cycle home. Just had an hour of torrential rain and a thunderstorm. The guttering around the cottage couldn't cope with the deluge and the lane is flooded. The sun has reappeared and it is hot and sticky again. Temp now 25c, down to 22c during the storm. The Hens took no notice of the storm and carried on scratching about in the garden They are now feasting on slugs in the flower border. Edited for spelling mistake which I couldn't get right so I've deleted the word Edited July 1, 2009 by Guest
