Favourite food

Our two go absolutely batty for tinned sweetcorn (no salt/sugar!) and dried mealworms. They like the live ones, too, but we stopped getting those over the summer because the post doesn't come until after we've gone to work and they would have got quite warm before we got home :vom: and we haven't found a local supplier. Now the weather's cooler they might get some more! :)

Mine love -

Sweetcorn - tinned or on the cob

Any salad

Leftover grainy bread, whizzed into crubs & soaked in olive oil (don't gve it to them dry)

Bio yogurt

Most fruit (not citrus or Avacado)

Cake or scones

Pasta

Veggie peelings,boiled up

Boiled potato or mashed, roast or jackets

Baked beans

Peas

It goes on & on .....I seem to find a new favourite every week

My girls adore tomartos.....they also like sweetcorn, fresh greens, lettuce, worms and grapes. They only have them late afternoon or early evening so that they eat their pellets during the day. They turn their beaks up at pasta, potato I don't think they like food sticking to thier beaks. If they get mud on their beaks they wipe their beaks on the back door mat :lol::lol:

Mine love lots of the aforementioned things...apart from slugs...drat. They will persevere with the odd small snail-yeuch.

The funniest thing they had was sweetcorn in bio yoghurt...they were covered in it and surrounded by a large white ring of yoghurt on the floor.

They love eating apples and cucumber but we have to hold them for them so they can have a good peck.

Grapes and sweetcorn are a guaranteed winner, along with spagetti.

Mine love raw brocolli too.

I'm sure the list will be endless.

One thing that amazes me is that i am REALLY PICKY about what goes into my chickens ie no salt/sugar etc....but I eat a load of "Ooops, word censored!" thats bad for me - ironic!!!

I remember too - my mates dad said when he kept chickens (many years ago) he fed them boiled potato skin (no salt obviously) which they loved - but if I was going to try it then I should do it on a camping stove outside because its stinky...I'm goin to try doing it soon hopefully and let you know how much they love it :D

Mine adore:-

Rita - Tinned sweetcorn, rice, carrot, cress, broccoli

Audrey - tinned sweetcorn, rice, oats, weetabix, bran flakes, pasta

Blanche - Anything & Everything!!!! But her absolute fave is cherry tomatoes, you should hear her squawk and run round whilst Rita tries getting one off her with no luck!!!!

They all go mad for earth worms, which they dig up . They also love lettuce, cucumber & a tub of cress to peck- but they won't eat slugs at all and we get loads! Think they eat snails as a few empty shells have been found in the run!

Mine eat snails shells and all, which I encourage as they're calci-yummy! And of course, it means there are less in the garden. They won't eat them once they get bigger than a 20p though, they like baby ones best. They do eat slugs, but again, they like the smaller ones.

They won't eat anything with a hint of 'leftover' about it though! It has to be their food or something mummy made fresh for them

mine are the same with the leftover thing, they always have prepared stuff.

Every day I lovingly prepare the "chicken platter" as we call it...which is a plate of their favourite things for their teatime treat. It has to be a bit of everything....eg - few chopped grapes/side salad/a splash of sweetcorn/scattering of raisins all topped with crunchy oats.
