dame egna
Any ideas? The hen that lays these almost always has these little spots on it.... No other eggs are like it. They are hard, and if you run your nail along them they come off to show a normal shell underneath. Edited May 24, 2009 by Guest
Ain't Nobody Here
How wierd . My first thought was lice eggs but it can't be that, surely . It must just be calcium deposits, I suppose?
dame egna
No they're not lice eggs as they are hard, and green the same colour as the shell!

craftyhunnypie
Oooo never seen that before eggs with hundreds & thousands on. I've had eggs with the odd calcium deposit on, but never anything like that. Each little bit on your egg is perfectly round & very much like the one next to it - look like spider eggs. Raina
Oooh it looks a bit like earth lol Not sure what the stuff is though, it looks a little like mini chicken eggs on the shell (hope you know what i mean)
Plum
That's a good camera. I bet if you took one with a run of the mill camera they'd tell you straight away what it is.
Lewis
Have you been worming them or given them any supplements? Limestone flour or similar? I'd guess they are just calcium deposits.
Egluntyne
They look like calcium deposits to me too.

Christian
One of mine used to lay eggs like that, but only a small area, say 5p size. She stopped doing it one day and hasn't since.
JM
One of mine does that occasionally too.
