atsw
Not sure what a "glass tarp" is though, I know what a tarp is but never heard of a glass one. This link will provide more details -> http://www.allplaz.com/acatalog/Clear_Tarps.html Andrew
Ain't Nobody Here
"Glass tarp" is "glass clear tarp" - ie totally see-through. There are some photos of blinds I've made out of it in my signature link. I agree with the corrugated plastic roof suggestion. Lets in light and won't harbour beasties. Also allows rainwater to run off if you build it slightly sloping. (Again, photos of mine are in my link) .

Plum
Looks really good Where did you decide to put the cube? and look forward to seeing how the roof works have you got that from CMS as well?
hibbyjint
Thanks for all your lovely comments - it makes all the hard work worthwhile . Decided on a high kickplate to keep the bedding in and to provide some shelter as there will be plenty perches going in for a higher view out into garden. We are going for clear corrugated roofing - didn't get from CMS as we are going for longer panels but CMS can provide. Hopefully today we will get some of the wire mesh roof panels on so it's all coming together. Decided on an Eglu rather than a cube to start with as only going to get 4 chickens to start with - we couldn't get enough info on cube for pophole - my OH believes he will be able to adapt at a later date if we go for a cube later on Edited March 21, 2010 by Guest

thelurch
really good run I assume you made the panels then screwed them all together? If thats what you did, did you attach the mesh to each section before putting them all together? or apply it in bigger pieces once the framework was up? EDIT: Having just seen your separate thread and its answered my question! What does A4U do? I know they pre make the panels, then screw together but is the mesh pre applied as well? or done in much bigger pieces later Thanks

bigmommasally
Just wanted to share my news: WE’RE GETTING A WIR!!! OH has next week off work to lay the patio for it to go on. The WIR will be 6 x 15ft, and go down one side of the garden. Cube will be on the outside. I just need to sort out what roof to have, looks wise I would prefer a translucent one as its not so obtrusive but our garden is south facing and can get very hot in summer so I’m worried that I would end up with Roast chickens. So we thought we would get a green corraline one, but when I spoke to Tony he suggested a pitched felted one, so now I’m all in a pickle. Will a felt one attract redmite and be too dark in winter? Would a translucent one really be too hot? Arghhh – what to do ??? Big big thank you's to everyone on this thread who have shared their WIR's it has made our planning much easier. Ain't Nobody Here
Congratulations, Bigmommasally . I'd be inclined to go for corrugated plastic. If you have the Omlet shades you can always put up them up inside the run for a bit of shade .

Lewis
Ta I love the Go The will go on a table on top of it eventually - kept the wendy house too so that the eglu can come out and be used for brooder/intro's or for table birds I assume you made the panels then screwed them all together? If thats what you did, did you attach the mesh to each section before putting them all together? or apply it in bigger pieces once the framework was up? EDIT: Having just seen your separate thread and its answered my question! What does A4U do? I know they pre make the panels, then screw together but is the mesh pre applied as well? or done in much bigger pieces later I bought the panels and just screwed them together. The mesh is added to each panel I think A4U do the same - attach the mesh before then screw together Exciting bigmommasally - same size as mine
