The condemned man ate .............

Recommended Posts

Today is my wedding anniversary and I am cooking a special meal for tonight.

He absolutely loves steak and kidney pie ......... he's a Yorkshireman ........ so that's what I'm doing. It got me thinking ... If you had one last meal what would it be? not that this will be his last :lol::lol::lol:

I would have a sirloin steak cooked blue with fresh english asparagus followed by warm home grown strawberries all accompanied by a bottle of Nyetimber fizz. Heaven

He'd have beer so I could have the bubbles all to myself

AND I'd have a cigarette at the end :shameonu::shameonu::shameonu:

I've given up but still miss it :(:(

Congratulations to you both DA

Fom me it has to be a huge prawn cocktail washed down with a large glass of chilled Gewurztraminer (sp) wine, followed by a perfect steak and really chunky chips and a glass of Merlot, and finish with a devine rich chocolate sponge soaked in Morello cherries and Kirsh

It's the old 'Berni' classic, but improved a notch or two. :D

Lasagne! 'Lasagne night' is a big deal in our family! We invite my auntie and her partner round, and we eat our lasagne, then we eat lots of chocolate! It happens once a month, and if i had to choose a last meal, it would most definately be that one!! :D

Happy anniversary!! :D:D

Happy Anniversary DA!

Would have to be steak (medium-rare) with thick chips and garlic mushrooms, onion rings and salad. It's my last meal got to make the most of it  Pudding would be a good jam sponge and drowning in custard with maybe a few strawberries to finish off. Hmmm - think I would be feeling a bit :vom: after all that but it wouldn't matter

Happy Anniversary :D

I'd have to say a real blow out of a curry to share with OH. Starters - onion bhajees, sheek kebabs. Chicken Korma, Lamb Pathia, Chicken Tikka Dhansak, Pilau Rice, Naan bread. Kulfi to finish.

All polished off with a nice New Zealand Sauvingon (sp?) Blanc.

Congratultions!

It's my sisters wedding anniversary today too. :D

Last meal -

garlic & cheese stuffed mushrooms, onion rings with salsa & garlic dips.

Pork in cider with apple & cream ( hubby makes this gorgeous)

Proper mashed potato with real butter - lots of mash!

Shredded white cabbage with loads of black pepper on

Champagne - the most expensive!

Trifle with loads of sherry in.

Strong coffee & handmade belgian chocolates - lots of!

Various cocktails involving Baileys, Cointreau, Kahlua ( Family forum)

Pina coladas in whole pineapples.

Loads of bottles of Tiger beer, San miguel & Cobra.

Lots of Schnapps & liqueurs

Chocolate fountain with endless profiteroles & marshmallows.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Moules frites for me, accompanied by a decent Chablis, Mersault or Montrachet. Alternatively, spaghetti in a seafood tomato sauce spiced up with some chillis, alongside a fairly light Montepulciano. In both cases, I'd follow it with a cheese board and take my pick from named growth claret, top flight Burgundy or a Barolo.

On reading this, it sounds like I'm a food s"Ooops, word censored!", but it honestly isn't the case. I just know what I've liked in the past.

Happy Anniversary :)

My mum's meat and tattie pie with lashings of Henderson's Relish. (Only those from around Sheffield will have an idea what that is but it is ESSENTIAL with meat and tattie pie)

I really must get her to give me the recipe one of these days!

Happy Anniversary!

OOh now let me think....last meal. Hmmmmmm

For starters I would have a really good French onion soup (with the bread and melted cheese on top) or prawns in their shells with salad.

Main course....I too like steak and kidney pudding so perhaps that. :? Or a good curry. :? Oooh or a fish finger sandwich on thick cut crusty white bread with melted cheese and horseradish mmmmmm and chips too! :D

For dessert I would have a bowl of really good coffee ice cream and really good pistachio ice cream. Or cheese.

Decisive aren't I?! Not one to pop my clogs in a hurry!:lol:

I like the sound of almost everything suggested! Might have to raid the fridge now although a curry sounds fab.....

Mine would be (bit bizarre) loads of dark green veg, broccolli (sp?) spinach, asparagus, all steamed with butter and black pepper,

or anything with tomato olive oil and fresh basil mmm mmmmm

Pudding, I love creme brulee or a really alcoholic tiramisu with strong dark chocolate. But really you can't beat fresh from the garden strawberries with a dollop of thich fresh cold cream.

Finished with whole cherries in kirsch dipped in dark chocolate with the stalk sticking out of the top - I bought myself some for Christmas last year (and didn't share any  )

Drink - would have to be champagne with a glass or two of elderflower champers thrown in for good measure.

God, I love food! That'll be why I have a big butt then!!!:lol:

I love creme brulee

Forgot creme brulee I'd have to have 2 desserts as I love this too

As well as the champagne I'd like a good dessert wine. I rarely drink dessert wine but I love it. There's a vineyard the other side of Henley to us that makes a lovely one.

Happy Anniversary for yesterday. Hope you enjoyed your meal!

I'd have scrambled egg and smoked salmon on blinis, followed by prima verde risotto (asparagus, broad beans and other green veg) and summer pudding with clotted cream. This would all be washed down with a bottle of Bloosom Hill White Zinfandel, and Calypso coffee!

:lol: Feel free!! It's very messy and you have got to get what you can - the lasagne seems to dissappear very quickly! :anxious:
