TAJ
these are the posts I was thinking of getting http://www.flytesofancy.co.uk/chickenhouses/PVC_Plastic_Post.html Would they be okay? These posts are really for sticking electric tape into the top slot, the other typr actually hold netting in a clip at the bottom and at the top - this is not the case with this type of posts - also be careful to look at the height - the top ones of the poles you were looking at are only 50cm tall. Tracy Ahh I see, thanks! I was looking at the 1m tall ones though. Not completly bonkers I shall have another look at the ones you mentioned. ClaireG
Where's the best place to get poles from? Flytesofancy - they do packs of 10 poles that work our cheaper per pole than the extra poles via Omlet, plus they do some corner poles - these have three spikes (above ground looks the same) so keep tension on corners better. Tracy Thanks Tracy The corner poles are a brilliant idea.
Jules.
Tom I think you have dropped onto a brilliant idea here. Well done
ubereglu
That's really good, especially as you can order exactly how much you need too! Now I can get the chickens fenced in, rather than fenced out!
Nu2chicks
You can get poles at Wickes for £2 something...I too am a fan of Knowle netting..see previous post... a few weeks back.

Ridgie
A bit disappointing for those of us who live in northern Scotland - the delivery charge is £20 as we get lumped in with the Highlands (I'm nowhere near the Highlands)! So all in all for 25m of net and 14 poles from Flyte of Fancy the total would've been £80+. Needless to say the Omlet netting and poles have now been ordered. Karen - arrives 26 June Gladys - arrives 27 June Bella - arrives 27 June Ruby - arrives 27 June 2 Rhodesian Ridgebacks (Whistler & Elsa)

cockadoodle1
I bought pond and fruit netting from the local garden centre. It is 2m deep x8m long . Cut it in half and you have loads of netting. Cost around £12. Poles are garden canes which are fitted into conduit sunk flush into the lawn for easy mowing (if there is any grass left)
Plum
I did that cockadoodle and they soon pushed holes through I've got omlet netting and its very good and works well for me but if I need some more for other areas I will get yours Tom. miffy
have I missed something??? 25m x 1.2m of chicken netting from this place inc del £20.68 plus £31.58 for 10 poles from FoF inc del total £52.26 omlett netting same size icl poles and del £68.06 but I can electrify if necessary rather than having to replace it?? tom123
Yes you are right, but most of us dont want to electrify it and not everyone wants 25m, Some people end up buying 25m then selling the rest loosing money! It is just something that is good for splitting the garden up etc. not electrifying. Tom
beulah59
Someone has passed on 10m of wire fencing and 5 poles ... the holes in the fence are too big for chickens and I'll need more poles, but I though it would do to reinforce the bottom of any netting I eventually get ... the netting is fairly inexpensive, so the poles are the big consideration. My five poles are B&Q and look reasonable quality. Any other suggestions for poles?

Ain't Nobody Here
I bought a pack of 10 dark green canes from B&Q for £1 . They're not particularly strong but they are good to use in addition to the more substantial poles .
