ClaireG
I'm nearly as excited as when i got my My car had to go for its MOT on Friday and flagged up problems for the first time. We were concerned that next years MOT would probably flag up more and be more expensive. So after looking on the net and talking to a friend who has a car on the scheme where you may reduced monthly payments then at the end have the option of, a) paying the rest and keeping the car b) handing car back and walking away or c) trading it in for a new one with a guaranteed trade in price we decided to do this. We had a look at a few cars on Fri/Sat and have decided on a fiat 500 I'm getting the 1.2 pop in Bossa Nova white with air con, chrome kit and an Italian flag stripe on bonnet and over roof as extras I should get it mid-end September. I now have to decide if this is a male or female car and what to call it any ideas?
jackiepoppies
She's little, Italian and sweet so.......how about Bella or Cara OR you could call her Versace 'cos she's smart or Sophia Lauren 'cos she's beautiful. This will be on my mind all day now Jx
Valkyrie
Like ships, cars are female in my book. My car was named by licence association - it's red, it's letters are RYP - so it's called Cherry (Ripe). I like Jackiepoppie's idea of Sophia - Gina Lolobridgida (if that's the spelling) was also gorgeous - oh dear, I'm such an old fogey now! Hope you enjoy your li'l mo. It won't be long now. ClaireG
Thanks ladies My current car is called Pete as he is a picanto and definatly male! I do think the 500 is female though I'm liking Bella or Sophia. DH came up with Florence and i thought Fifi!
helenc
Oooh I am waiting for my Fiat 500 - I ordered it just over a month ago - I can't wait, the dealer said it should be here at the end of July. I think they are too pretty to be anything other than a lady car. I haven't thought about name for mine although somebody asked me on Friday if I was going to give it a name. Sorry I can't help with a name though.
ClaireG
Another Omleteer with (or with soon!) a 500 Buffie has one as well. What colour and style etc have you gone for Helen?
helenc
I am getting a 1.2 Lounge in Bossa Nova White as it had all the extras on that I wanted the only 'extra' is the side rubbing strip with the 500 logo on it, although now I have seen the ad on TV for the 500c I have my eye on that - so maybe next time!! I have a VW Beetle at the minute and I decided to get a car with a smaller engine
ClaireG
We were going for the lounge but hubby didn't have enough head room in it! The 500c looks very I've always liked bugs and would have considerd one if the price was better.
Cinnamon
Fiat 500's are gorgeosu, I am really jealous. I would give her a 'fast' Italian name like Lola or Lolita. I have a Fiat, a new shape Panda but she is called Marge as she is the exact same colour as Marge Simpsons hair

Rhapsody
Why does a car need a name?
WarrensWorld
If you really want a Fiat 500, go for the 1.3 Turbo Diesel. You'll get more miles per litre, and the depreciation won't be half as bad as a petrol model. I hope none of your friends are over 6' though. DH is approx 6' and we've had to go for the Pop over the Lounge because of this. We don't have to worry too much about depreciation as on the finance plan we've gone for we get a guaranteed future minimum value.
Omletina Kyckling
Cars to me are defnitely boys and I always call them he, but then again we have always had quite big cars, and I can't see a Land Rover as being a "she" but that's just me. As you know, Claire, my landy has a silly name (Baby Landy) because he's a shortwheel base Landy and our other is a long wheelbase one (Landy!!) Anyway, I am so so that you are getting a Fiat 500 - when I was ickle, we had the original 500s and I love them to bits. I love the interior of the new ones! I'd have to give it a cheeky boy's name, but I haven't come up with a good one yet....Giuseppe?
ali-s
All my cars have been female except my little chocolate brown Mini I owned years ago which I named Turd . I have a Fiat Panda called Florence

Well you'll get to see her/him when she/he arrives im sure If your lucky i might even let you have a go! They had one of the old ones in the showroom to (Rockingham Cars) and i think they've done really well with the styling to get it looking as near as poss to the old one. Seagazer
All of my cars have been female, my first Renault 5 was called Botty Burp (don't ask!) and my Renault Clio was called Dilys. The volvo estate is Veronica. I haven't named the Corsa because I can't stand it. I long for a Nissan Figaro and I think it would be called Fifi. Snowy
Great that you getting a new car and love the idea of names! Must admit the 500 is quirky enough to inspire a name I've never really thought about names for my cars, but the two we have at the moment sort of have names - they are at opposite ends of the car spectrum. The suzuki alto is 'the matchbox' and the grand espace is 'the tank'
Griffin
I like Gina Lollobrigida too Mine is a VW Sharan called Tutankhamun because of the letters TNK & M in his number plate. Previous cars have been Geoffrey, Bernard and Johnny Johnny got his name from the JFK on the plate
