Lesley
I only open doors and windows on the cooler side of the house to cool things down and then keep them closed. If I see any more of those big dangly spiders - you'll hear me from all over the country!

I can't take it, I have been walking around the house with a wet flannel on my head, then the door went and I forgot about the flannel and the look I got was priceless! chickencam
I am getting used to it now, the main problem in this country is it can be 15 degrees one day and 25 the next so it is the adjustment that takes it out of you. I have all the curtains and windows closed on the sunny side of the house then as the sun moves round I do the same at the back. I open windows and doors last thing at night and first thing in the morning. My neighbour has better double glazing than us and seems to open all her windows and doors to let the heat in I have found that I can cope with the heat much better now I am being treated for my underactive thyroid, because if you are feeling rundown anyway the heat just finishes you off. The Dogmother
Being half Italian, I love the heat, but the humidity is a bit sapping. Going down to London yesterday wasn't really what I had in mind nor were the two hours sleep (due to trip) before gettting up for work My house is lovely and cool - old, thick walls. I open all the windows first thing to air it, then close all the ones on the sunny side and draw the curtains.
Aunty e
I'm finding it a bit tricky to sleep, but that's just as much due to carpal tunnel as it is to the heat. What I am finding irritating is the number of complete strangers who feel the urge to commiserate with me on how difficult it must be in this weather. I don't really think it's any more difficult in this weather than being seven months pregnant, unable to breathe properly, walk properly, eat properly or use my hands would be in the winter, and at least I'm not getting rained on or having to wander about in the snow. Sigh.
ClaireG
They moved Adams sports day to this morning thank goodness. It was still very hot though.
The Dogmother
82deg in the shade here, but at least it's not humid like yesterday.
bellekatz
I work in an ICTsuite with nearly 40 machines and no air con. I have doors and as many windows as I have, open, and have taken to turning off lights and all machines except the servers, when no class is in. I don't mind this when I am on holiday and can dive into a pool when I want but working in this humidity and heat is not much fun!! And I have swollen feet as well and struggled to get my new fit flops on yesterday

Alis girls
Now a puddle on the floor - i have changed once today, and i'm afraid had to dispence with bra as sweat (horrid word) gathers there - ooh too much info. Just heard 5 kids in YS class have swine flu and 16 in another class. Just what we need.............
Valkyrie
DD just heard that one of the colleges in Basingstoke has it now - luckily not hers, but you can bet it won't be long - if we haven't had it already. The docs weren't the least bit interested when we called about our son (having been at Exeter uni visiting his cuz). Better to get it over and done with while it is in it's milder state. Chook n Boo Mum
Better to get it over and done with while it is in it's milder state. That's what DH said when 2 cases were confirmed at DS's school.....one poor little yr8 had just arrived on a trip to Aurillac (?) & had to be isolated there....the other a 6th former is isolated in the medical centre. Oh well they finish tomorrow...I'll keep an eye on the little darling over the next few days, then stop fretting I've even been convinced to take a dip in the pool twice in the past week, this is an almost unknown occurrence unless the temperature is unbearable!!! The Dogmother
Much cooler (15deg at 6am) and raining steadily (just 20 mins from Lesley). It was lovely walkign the dog in cooler weather this morning.
Valkyrie
Much better today - I've even done some washing and ironing - who wants to do that when it's been so hot? Not that it stopped everyone complaining about not having any clothes to wear. There's the washing maching - there's the ironing board, you want it - you do it yourselves. Stamps foot and winces - still a bit swollen!
