I love summer but the humidity is awful. I am wilting. OH who is Med origin (cant spell dont ask me) loves it and is so unsympathetic. i like dry heat. My hair has frizzed and I fell asleep on sofa and woke up feeling zombie like. Sorry to moan - but my delicate english metabolism cant cope. and yes I am drinking loads, have fans on and windows open. i am sure I'm not alone

I don't do heat either, specially not this sticky humidity.

 

Had to leave work this morning as I had a thumping headache, luckily a few hours sleep sorted it out. It's nice not to have a wet summer like the last two, but I like a traditional British summer best, a bit of sunshine mixed with a day or two of rain!

I am also at the humidity, the furthest abroad I've ever been is Switzerland

I'm used to normal, cool, English weather.

There was terrible thunder and lightning last night

Older sis really doesn't like it and even though there's 2 years between us, I was the one comforting her.

This was 2am, and i realised we'd left the window open for ventilation , oh everything got sooo wet!

I went to the upstairs bathroom to grab some toilet roll, only to find that water was coming in through the fan in the glass!

 

The had to wake the parental units and tell them.

 

Finally got back to bed at 3am

The chickens were fine, but I was a little worried

 

Hope it doesn't happen again.

 

I'm all for a warm summer, but the humidity is crazy!

Lie on the sofa in a darkened room, nice music or a good book and SIESTA.

snap ive just got back from college which in the two rooms we were in only had two windows each with no breeze. I physically(SP) feel like im melting. O well im will not moan as this is our summer and i am not a hypocrite.

That's not good. I was worried we werent going to get the sun here as the forecast said we were stuck with rain, but nope it's glorious if not a little too warm though I'm not complaining, though I don't think it is as humid up here from the sounds of it

Glad I am not alone, I have got ratty with kids and cat who was meowing tooo loudly then felt guilty as hes wearing a fur coat and cant unzip it to cool down. Yes Scrambles right if on holiday you can flop into the pool, I had all the windows open at work and the noise of main road was phenominal and the door bangs making my nerves jangle. Oh no here I go again - does anyone remember the song with the line "feel like dancing naked in the rain" - well wont be doing that sighs of relief from neighbours - but oh I feel like it...................

Noooooo the last 2 were awful, with kids to entertain the rain is the worst thing, great for me we spent the morning at the local water park thingy and then kids slept most of afternoon while i sat with the fans on

I'm ok in the daytime - it's just trying to get to sleep at night. We have ceiling fans upstairs & downstairs, windows open. Just a shame we don't have air con. Nice in the daytime & I like sitting out just like abroad & wearing girly summery dresses - but bedtime is hell.

I definately wilted today . I work part time in a tea rooms baking cakes etc. It was VERY warm . I am sitting down typing with my feet in a small paddling pool

My arthritis doesn't like this humidity either. Like most of you, i can deal with the heat its the humidity thats killing me.

 

DS has sports day tomorrow. They are doing sports all day with parents going in to watch the races in the afternoon. I know they were trying to borrow gazebos etc for the children to sit under and hope they have. I think i'm going to have to go and buy myself a hat and bottles of water in the morning.

I don't really like the heat either, but feel really guilty moaning about it as we get so few nice days as a rule. And next time when its raining I 'll be moaning that we didn't get much of a summer

We live in an old cottage with low upstairs ceilings & small windows, so its horrible at night.

I was up at 2 this morning,along with one of the daughters, & was just getting comfortable & drifting off at 4.30 when the blooming cockerel went off so I had to shut the windows.

Therefore I have spent most of today in a sleep deprived stupor

Fair hair & skin in this weather dont go together but im not moaning - the last two summers have been terrible so we are well overdue a scorcher!

The weather hasn't bothered me so far this week. I'm in work all day though, it's right by the river, with high ceilings and lots and lots of windows!

 

Going to bed would be the worst, but I found a can a Magi-cool and I've been spraying it into the room liberally before I get in to bed. It cools the room down enough to allow me to get to sleep.

 

The thunderstorm didn't wake me up last night, everyone has been saying how heavy and noisy it was though!

 

Jazz lurks inside in the dark with me - and doesn't want to play until at least 9pm.

Ha ha! I know! From Wales to the Wirral, South Liverpool to Formby, the thunder seems to have been everywhere, but I didn't wake up.

I don't like hot weather - and I never have! Give me cold weather any day!! I had to play in a concert tonight - a girl fainted on stage because it was too hot!! The hot weather just puts me in a bad mood!

My ankles are swollen too and have been for a few days - the worst was when I couldn't get my shoes on yesterday! But I have been drinking loads of water and I (having the luxury of being a kept woman) had my feet up on the settee a fair few times. It seemed to have helped, other than that trying to keep cool with the curtains closed. Watered the plants and kept the hose on my feet for a while was nice. Had to go to Basingstoke yesterday and while I waited for DS, I flattened my seat in the car and drifted off - I can never sleep on my back, but was out of it for around 20 minutes and woke up snoring! Had to look around, but luckily "Ooops, word censored!"ody was in the car park to hear. The today the inlaws came in for a surprise visit as they were in the area - so they found the house in turmoil, the washing unironed and the kitchen with half a clean floor (I started but got too hot to finish) and dishes everywhere. They didn't stay long - must try and remember to do the same next time they call! OK you can slap my wrists now!

Pretty hot here too, the nights are the hardest, I put a damp flannel over the kids fan last night which did a bit, I also water the patio which is outside my bedroom window and that brings the temperature down a bit. I love it in the daytime I'm afraid, I regularly dampen down, put water on my arms face and neck, and I just slow down. Did a massive dump run today but just took it slow, walked the dog but we just ambled, drank plenty of cold cold water and generally took it easy. Half the trick is not to expect so much from yourself, behave as they do in the med, siestas, no hurry, I can see why, now, everything abroad is "maniana"! When it's this hot, you just have to get that sense of inner stillness, and just chill........

It was 29 degrees in our office yesterday, that was with blinds shut and windows open (yes I put up with the draught!) and ceiling fans on. I am sort of grateful to have the day off today to wait in for the "might be early" new Eglu, and have a list of indoor jobs to do .

 

It is uncomfortable at night but I do as Beckyboo says and just "chill" don't flap around and keep calm, and I have all the windows shut .
