I personally prefer to spend as little as possible on anything and am using a lovely big squishy metallic pewter bag I found in a charity shop bargain bin for £1, and I know if I bought something really expensive I wouldn't use it, but that's me. I just spend my money on expensive, overpriced chicken houses

I love handbags and would happily get a new one every time I go shopping - but I don't!

 

I've got a lovely Claudio Ferrici one that hubby bought for me when we were in Amsterdam, gorgeous soft leather, don't know how much it cost but was expensive for me. My daughter has even said that I have to leave it to her in my will It wasn't that pricey but its just a lovely bag.

 

I think if your hubby is willing to buy it for you, get it. It will last a long time and I think you can really tell a good handbag.

Thanks for making me feel ok about getting the bag. It is only a one off treat, Charlotteschicken I am usually like you and I am trying to get everything as cheap as possible (I have been googling like mad trying to find a discount code even for this bag lol) and I think that is why I am finding it hard to press the 'purchase' button.

I know it won't be everyones cuppa but for me it is my all time favorite colour. I love the soft squidgyness of the leather. It is the perfect size (I don't do all these massive handbags celebs seem to carry these days). It has lots of pockets which is really useful too. *drools*

£140 for a teal Radley using retirement present vouchers. I love it. However some of my nicest bags were less than £2 from the charity shop where I also found a brand new Radley wallet for a £1.

OH bought me an "expensive" handbag for Christmas!! Well I thought it was expensive, £35 from Next. It's a brown leather satchel-shape. It has loads of pockets.

 

£250 really is lot for a handbag, but it's a bit like designer clothes, you pay a lot for the name.

years ago i wouldn't pay anything like that as i prefered to spend my money on the kids but now their older its my time

my attitude is we all decide what to spend our hard earned cash on, smoking, going out, designer clothes, holidays etc

Yolky - am I allowed my honest opinion? I know you love it, but I myself don't really like it much. It just doesn't look anything ' special'. Sorry if this upsets, it's not meant to - I wanted to offer my opinion to help you make that final decision.

Have you looked on QVC at the Kathy Van Zealand leather bags? Some nice leather ones there & not as expensive! If I liked something so much, then I would be tempted - but I think I'd draw the line at about £120 on a handbag.

Now, I don't like the KVZ bags at all plus TK's often have them in really cheap. Also, most of them are plastic. Mind you I don't like Radley's either. Good job we're all different

Craftyhoneypie, all opinions welcome I did just pop over to QVC and have a look but nothing tickled my fancy. I also have looked today on John Lewis/House of Fraser/Debenhams incase there was anything on there but nothing struck me. As I said I wouldn't normally dream of spending that much, this is why it is taking me so long to actually order it. I do really, really like it. It goes with my style of clothes and so I would use it every day. It is the perfect style/size/colour. It was also nearly £400 before sale price so is, sort of, a bargain lol.

How odd that this topic should come up!

 

I was sat next to a colleague the other day and she told me she wasnt going to go on holiday this year as she has bought the most gorgeous handbag instead!

 

Needless to say i was a little and even though she didnt reveal its actual price she said it was 4 figures. She went on to say that she doesnt like to take it out with her as she's afraid it will either be stolen or someone will burn it with a cigarette so its still at home in the wrapper.

 

Is it just me but i dont get that at all!!!

TheHerd, I don't get buying a handbag and not using it. If I get this one I shall use it every single day till it is falling apart. Infact I prefer leather bags when they have a more 'used' look. I also wouldn't give up my holiday for a handbag either.

I always buy a bag or two on my hols. You can get some nice ones abroad & people always ask...ooo where did you get that bag. I'm always proud to tell them the reasonable price too. If you have to do without things to afford a handbag, then you really shouldn't be buying them. I'd never give up my holidays!

Look around, before jumping in, it's a lot of money & what name was it again?

About £100 on a very nice Kipling bag I had to have.

 

I only really do Kiplings & have about 8 of them now,all in different colours,all with matching purses.

My favourite everyday one is called 'Defea' & I have it in hot pink for everday,turquoise for holidays & black for funerals.

 

The re-sell value of them is very good on ebay,so when I get bored I sell them on (& usually buy another )

funny becuase I ahve been looking at these myself and would love one, so I am keeping my eyes open for the right one at right price at the moment.
