I've just felt something rip in my calf as I was leaning over to put Oscar the hamster back in his cage . It's agony . I've got an icepack on it but suspect I'll be hobbling for a day or so . I had pulled it slightly this morning on a run but this is much worse .

Don't go blaming 'ickle Oscar now just because it happened by his cage...

 

It's also an excuse not to do the housework

Relax, chill, put your feet up - if it doesn't hurt - and dictate from the living room sofa

As a nurse - I;d say continue with ice , painkillers and elevate. Oh has to cook and supply copius amounts of tea and TLC and cold drinks. Need reading material and TV remote at hand. And no stess what soever. Enjoy - you deserve it

It's not painful unless I try to walk, when it's really painful but I don't know what I've done to it to make it go like this . I put an icepack in a teatowel on it last night for about 20 mins then put Ibuprofen gel on it before bed (it had gone red before doing that). It feels really hot to touch .

When I get cellulitis in my leg it goes very red and hot like that...but not in one patch

As we're going on holiday 2 weeks today (with lots of hillwalking) and the doctors is closed, I thought I would just pop along to A&E to be on the safe side (it's only 15 mins away).

 

Recognised the doctor - he treated mum last year . Didn't seem surprised that we're estranged .

 

Anyway, all's well (ish) - he was surprised by the amount of redness but said it is just a pulled muscle and I should just take it easy and do as much as I can manage.

 

Fingers crossed I'm OK for the holiday - OH has 15 Munroes planned .

Here's hoping all's well soon otherwise OH will have to do this up the hills! Although he doesn't need to wear a nursie outfit.
