Ain't Nobody Here
Last night I asked ES to unplug the modem and router (internet connection had gone) as he can reach the top of the bookcase without standing on a chair. I then heard a big thump and ran through to find him lying flat out on the (wooden) floor out for the count and what I can only describe as fitting slightly . Three seconds later he came round but was totally confused as to where he was and how he'd got there. Five or so seconds after that he sat up and remembered everything and insisted he was fine (but with a large bump on the back of his head). After a call to NHS24 he reluctantly agreed to go to A&E. They checked him over but weren't happy with his blood pressure which was lower when he stood up. They kept checking it and eventually were happy enough to let him go (at half past midnight ). He has to be careful when standing up suddenly and go to his GP if it happens again. (He admitted that he often feels dizzy when standing up even out of a chair .) Lesley
You are having a rough time of things !! What a worry, I'm glad he was allowed home but it sounds like a trip to the GP would be a good idea if he has been having slight dizzy spells. freddie
how scary, poor him, poor you. how old is he? i used to do this as a teenager, and still do if i'm tired, it winds everyone right up! i have pathetically low blood pressure, both readings under 100, lowest usually under 60....and I'm fine! pure soft licorice helps to raise blood pressure with no nasty side effects as long as you dont eat too much off to the health food store for you, try a good independent one, rather than H&B good luck! Egluntyne
Crikey...poor lad. I hope he is OK and that the bump on his head isn't too painful. I have a low BP and can often feel a bit light headed with it, so I can well imagine how this happened.
chickenanne
Oh poor you! Quite right to go to A&E, any suspect head injury and confusion should be checked out (I've been doing a first aid course! can you tell!). I'm sure is nothing to worry about. Maybe a trip to the GP is in order - A&E jsut patch you up really, GP's are way better for longer term stuff.
Guest
Poor you A&E and the worry. Isn't ES a typical man - one sniffle and they have "man flu" but when there is something wrong they won't do anything about it!
Happy-Mama
oh not good, glad he got home but does sound like a trip to the GP is needed, hope all is well!
Seagazer
Oh no - hope he feels better today. I have low blood pressure and it was much worse when I was a teenager, forever feeling woozy. Perhaps its all the hormones whizzing around the place.
Griffin
My youngest, three year old Georgia, knocked herself out briefly a few months ago falling off the back of the sofa. She was unconcious for about a minute. Obviously she went to hospital and they kept her in overnight. It was a good three or four days until she was feeling better again. Concussion made her very sleepy. Make sure your son rests for a few days.
BeckyBoo
Wow, scary! Hope he feels better soon and you both recover from last night. Liquorice sounds like a good idea although I'd BeckyBoo

Guest
would low BP explain the fitting? hope it's nothing serious.
chickencam
Hope he is ok today. You really are going through it at the moment. Sounds like a trip to the GP would be a good idea for a thorough check over.
Snowy
Oh no, poor ES Hope he is better now. And poor you - I've had recent experience of rushing a child to A&E - I never want to feel that scared again in my whole life
Gamebird
Poor chap. A bit worrying though if you don't know what's causing the low blood pressure. Definitely worth checking with your GP. Hope he's feeling better.
Ain't Nobody Here
Thanks all . He's feeling absolutely fine (and maintains he has been since it happened ). To be honest, I wasn't planning on taking him to the GP unless it happens again (I can imagine his if I suggested it ). Do you think it's anything to do with being quite tall? He's almost 6'3". OH is 6'1" and says he sometimes feels dizzy on standing up too quickly too.
