ali-s
OH has just phoned to say him and another man are leaving work now and trying to get home I do feel so sorry for the people in town who have had to leave their homes. A friend at work was sandbagging her house at 2.30am today and taking as much furniture as possible upstairs as the river Lossie was approaching. she then drove into work for 7am to help cook breakfast for the boarders. She finished work at 3 o'clock to go home but she wasn't sure if she would be able to get near her house (two seperate posts as I ran out of space in the first)

Blackrocksrock
Hope you are still Ok Ali - being about 25 miles from you we have had the same rain and the river spey was really very very huge in aberlour and around and large trees floating down it having been uprooted with the flood - I am like ANH at the top of a hill thankfully but we still had a stream going down the garden and the chickens were trying to get shelter where they could either in the run or under the garden seats!!/ They were funny. To-day it has not been so bad and flooding going down thankfully as I feel so so sorry for the people who were flooded out.
ali-s
Thanks for every ones concern and good wishes. The roads around us are now clear, lots of water lying in the fields some of which still have crops waiting to be harvested. Our lawn is still under water. We had about 3 foot of flooding there, it is slowing receding but soggy underfoot the trampoline has reappeared, wellies were needed to put the washing on the whirly gig. My friend who had to sandbag her house managed to get home on Friday and her house was OK It was reported we had a months worth of rain in 24 hours I went up to the veg garden today for the first time in 4 days to find the runner bean poles broken down and the soil needed watering those beans are surely big drinkers I was very annoyed on Friday afternoon after receiving a text from Natalie's school informing me she was late for school on Friday Yes she was late, the roads were flooded, the school bus couldn't get through to her and I had to battle my way through flooded roads to get her to school. The school knew she hadn't gone to school on the bus as they phoned me Friday afternoon asking me to pick her up at the end of the school day because I had taken her in and the school bus had been not advised to travel our way because of the flooding. I will be going to school on Monday to have a word
Alis girls
Lovely visions of your girls paddling. They need wellies, a boat and macs. I think it was wise in the light of possible flood they could rest in a tree or something.

A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Glad you are all well. Is it wrongly chicken-obsessed to admit my first thought upon seeing the title of your post was that you were building a CHICKEN ark?
