The Dogmother
I had one of those fairies Looney - I kicked him out Now I just have builders
Mel (& Paul)
I have a cleaning-gnome. My personal junk fairy follows me round leaving a trail of destruction, but the cleaning-gnome follows the fairy round tidying up whilst going *tut* and
The Dogmother
Better not chuck HIM out then
Mel (& Paul)
No, I think I'll keep him (specially as he gets rid of spiders and can open the gin bottle for me )
Popcorn
Is the junk fairy the same or different to the sock fairy.....eats bread and cake, steals single socks: I was shocked and very amused ( ) at last week's Parent and Toddler group when one of the others Mum's commented that Stefan had 'matching socks on this week!!' Mel (& Paul)
if he wears different socks next time you can tell them that he is a trend setter
Popcorn
I can rarely find a matching pair..I do try and colour co-ordinate though He's gone to nursery for the day today. I must stop talking about him as I'm missing him terribly....off to occupy myself with putting the tree up......

I must stop talking about him as I'm missing him terribly....off to occupy myself with putting the tree up...... AAhh - I've got one of those Gina! My 2 year old has a drawer full of odd socks! Caught him again tonight - one sock on, the other nowhere to be seen. One day I WILL find out where he's hiding them. In the meantime I figure that, as long as the basic sock colour is similar, it doesn't matter if the tops, toes or patterns don't match! Do I care what the other Mums think? ... That's their problem, not mine!
Hellcat
I think my house is used for Junk Fairy Training School. Its such a mess since I went back to work (I'm only there for 2 days a week, what about the rest, I hear you cry, well, I just don't know...) that I have a cleaner starting next week and I am soooooo worried that she'll take one look and march straight back out again... Charlottechicken
Oh I am so glad it's not just me with the junk problem! I really am making an effort to find the junk fairy this coming New Year (and help her mend her ways!), but I have started now. No point in having a messy Christmas! Did anyone see a programme about 5 years ago, think it was called The 1900 House. A 21st century family decked out in Victorian garb, lived the 1900 life. The most profound statement was that in 1900 the average person had 200 possessions, and in 2000 that number had risen to 20,000. I can believe it as well
Guest
Yes, I watched that! I love those programmes. But I don't remember that particular factoid - amazing!
Egluntyne
Re the odd sock thingy...I had a "friend" who noticed that I was wearing odd socks one day, and felt that she had to point it out to everybody by saying "that's an interesting pair of socks you are wearing". Quick as a flash I said "I am so pleased that you like them....I have another pair just like them at home". Stifled giggles from the others....beetroot red face from her! Re the Junk fairy...you all need my sister to come round...she is an absolutely ruthless chucker out/recycler. When her friends need a clear out, they ask her to come round. She is frighteningly efficient.
Snowy
Hm... I have an Anti-Junk Fairy, my sister in law. She stayed with us recently (between house moves ). We made the mistake of going on holiday and when we came home I couldn't find anything! I spent the next week raiding the bin, trying to find stuff she'd chucked out!!!!!!!!! Bless - my house has never been as clean since though........
Popcorn
Well, that's one way to clean up I guess! My OH's sister is renowned for having no nick-nacks at all. It's quite difficult trying to buy her anything as you know it will end up either in the charity shop or in the bin after a while. She's just moved house and it was the easiest move ever as she has no stuff at all. Quite bizarre really. I couldn't live without a bit of organised clutter. Karen & co.
I couldn't live without a bit of organised clutter. Snap I quite like having 'things' in the house that remind me of different places and events and bits and bobs the children make for us karen x
Popcorn
I quite agree Karen! 'Things' do bring a smile to your face when you least expect it don't they! We've just got our first painting up on the wall from Stefan that he did at nursery. Just so cute.
Snowy
I quite agree Karen! 'Things' do bring a smile to your face when you least expect it don't they! We've just got our first painting up on the wall from Stefan that he did at nursery. Just so cute. The first christmas in our house was when my oldest was only 5. The dining room was undecorated, so we covered the walls in all his nursery paintings and artwork. Looked fantastic!
Popcorn
You'll appreciate this little poem then Snowy. Stefan made us a picture of an angel made up of wings from his handprints and a body from his footprint. Sometimes you get discouraged Because I am so small And always leave my fingerprints On furniture and walls But everyday I'm growing I'll be all grown up someday And all these tiny handprints Will surely fade away So here's a final handprint Just so you can recall Exactly how my hands once looked When I was very small
Snowy
Aahh, mine have brought that one home from nursery before - always brings a tear to my eye! They're growing up far too fast!
Guest
When DS was 3 days old and rushed into SCBU with his life in danger, the nurses used that poem and his baby handprints and footprints to make a Mothering Sunday card for me. It was such a thrill because they must have done it on the night shift while I was asleep and I was really touched. It made me cry!
Snowy
Having said that - mine have made me cry tonight. Have 'undecorated' our christmas tree!! Literally taken everything off except the lights and a few baubles at the top ......... monsters!!!!! Oh, and it was my fault because I wasn't in the room with them. OH was, but he didn't see anything because he'd nodded off in the chair ..... even bigger monster
The Dogmother
I've just manged to get the tree up and decorated, and have already fished Biscuit out of the branches twice!! The weight that he is I fully expect him to have it on the floor! I don't have any ornaments, but I do have 'stuff', most of which needs tidying away - a job for the Christmas break! I got rid of loads of stuff on Freecycle when we cleared out the attic room, what hasn't gone on that will go for jumble to a friend in Norfolk. I love decluttering
chocchick
I've added 3 Christmas fairies on top of our TV with a cuddly reindeer. Do you think they will cause trouble? OH said nothing about the decorations last night, just how messy the lounge was

The weight that he is I fully expect him to have it on the floor! Hartley has spent the last few days either up the tree, or under the bed after being shouted at for being halfway up the tree. Tigger, thankfully, is just far too fat, and grown-up to be bothered with the tree.
