Omlet go national

Recommended Posts

I never know which day it is never mind the year so can understand the date problem!

I'm with ANH, I'm wary of people getting chickens on a whim, but then, the price is such that it could be a deterrent for most people to buy in that way.

I hope the forum is up to increased capacity too. Maybe more of us should put our name down as a contact to visit if people want to check out the reality- and maybe to run more parties? ( not sure my garden is in a fit state for either!)

I aggree its a good thing that they are getting more publicity etc, but I think one of the good things is that you do have to deal with Omlet and then get all the information and customer service you need with it (not saying you wont get the same support if you buy it from a garden centre).

I aggree with ANH and Tricia about "ooh, chickens", I'd be happy to show people the eglu, but obviously my parents would have to be there and aggree to it aswell.

One of my teachers saw the chicks at Open evening and was really interested in getting an eglu.

He said he was at a garden centre a few weeks ago which had wooden housing and chickens for sale and he was almost at the point of choosing his hens, but decided to leave it a few more weeks until the garden was sorted.

He then went on to ask what they eat and what you need to keep them  - they now knows a bit more and had a book about chickens and an Omlet brochure to read

They've trialled selling them in a local feed store (we are just 5 miles from the Omlet Mothership), but they haven't really taken off there, but then it's not really geared up for chooks. the other local outlet is a chickeny place though and they sell well there.

As the others have said, I'd worry about the wrong advice being given, and people not thinking it through.

It took me a while, but I'm not very focussed today

:lol::lol::lol:

I know that one. Like me this morning then. I decided I would do some of my Art essay at college today, as I had a free afternoon, so I saved what I'd done on my memory stick, but forgot all my notes...

So, I've written half of it via a) What I could remember and b) The quotes I'd copied off the internet.

You'd think so, wouldn't you  . We do get the occasional chicken owner who doesn't seem to have done an awful lot of research first though :? .

How very true :(

Some people really seem to have more money than sense.

Before I got my baby tortoise I spent months reading and learning everything I could get my hands on.

Getting her from a reputable breeder plus all of her heating, lighting, housing etc cost a fair bit and we had to save up the money.

I joint a couple of tortoise forums to get even more info and was amazed that people were posting messages such as- 'Got my first ever tortoise. What does it eat?'

'Picked up 2 baby tortoises today-what do they need to live in?' 'Had Harry for 3 weeks-does he need a bowl of water?'

In my opinion, these are basic requirements that should be sorted out well before getting the pet-whatever animal it may be. I am constantly shocked and disgusted at how many people obtain animals without doing any research whatsoever :(

Maybe people should have to answer questions about the animal they are wishing to purchase before the animal is handed over

I agree with the "green" newbie-types, I find myself like this  on occasion  !

Is there anywhere that we can find out where the eglus and cubes are likely to be on show if not on sale? I'd be willing to go in, if there's anywhere near me, and offer my "services" as a happy owner with advice to impart to interested people, rather like the "visit an eglu-owner" system on here..........hopefully no odd-balls will be interested in Omlet products :anxious:

Perhaps they ought to include a free introduction to our friend Prudence in the package! :D

They can't. Prudence is locked in my shed

Crikey Tasha, haven't you let her out yet  ...I haven't seen Patience her little sister for a while, is she in there too :lol: ?
