Chook n Boo Mum
Coo Sarah...talk about lighting the blue touch paper & departing rapidly Is this going to be our "early Christmas planning thread" then ? I have to admit that I like to think & plan early, but don't like all the daft adverts "order now in time..." kind of things......and going into a pub in shorts & finding a tree & presents in the porch advertising Christmas parties is a bit much too, once it gets colder it's not so bad. ...and yes please to the mince pie....warm with a blob of cream please Sha x

hillfamily
Don't know what the matter is with me this year...normally by now I would have one or two presents stashed away and a good idea of what everyone will be getting but so far, I haven't even thought about Christmas Have a lovely time Cinnamon and enjoy feeling Christmassy :D
Chookiehen
I baked my Christmas cake over the weekend - plenty to time to feed it brandy, and let it 'brew'! Also ordered my Christmas candles on Sunday, I just need to buy a couple of advent candles closer to December, once the garden centre gets it's festive stuff in. Sunshine
When i was shopping with mum and my little sister at the weekend i suggested buying some clothes for my other sister for Christmas. I was met with faces like this: I love Christmas and have started thinking about what to make for presents this year. I'm rubbish at buying presents for people but i do enjoy making little things for family. So exciting!
Chookiehen
Seen as how it was a Mod who started this thread, does that mean we're allowed to make our signatures festive already?!
pistachio
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can never find people who want to be Christmassy straight after the summer hols. I'm well into Christmas right now and have lots of presents. I think buying presents is one of my favourite things and wrapping them is just lush. I have been buying ribbons throughout the year. We have a Christmas paper chain around our kitchen from 3 years ago and we didn't want to take it down. The other day I had to take it down to clean and it was so tatty and dusty I just saved about 20 links and am going to make a new one. The kids chose links they wanted to keep. Each year we buy a new christmas tree decoration so our tree is most unthemed and gaudy. I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!! oarrrr one of my chickens dies the other day. She was called Sue (my daughter named her after my Mum) and she laid beautiful large brown eggs. She was a Gingernut Ranger and very dark bright ginger. She was lovely. She went peacefully and we miss her. So we'll be one less this christmas but she had a good and happy life and we will toast her over christmas Pud. RIP Sue xxx

chickencam
Once the nights start drawing in why not? We have a couple of pressies stashed away and we always have a string of fairy lights on the wall over the fire. We had some lovely blue ones for a couple of years but they have died a death so we now have some brighter soft white ones. I love Christmas but I have got to get through secondary school applications a couple of birthdays and the pre-Christmas ebay sell before I can get too excited. Chickendoodle
I've made Delia's cake for ever (over 20 years) and it never fails to please. I always make it the weekend the clocks go back - that's the start of Christmas for me. My grown up daughter still comes over to help me decorate it just before Christmas. I also use Delia's mincemeat recipe - it's really easy and incredibly scrummy. used to make my own pudding as well but have given up the last few years as no-one really wants it after lunch.
