I am feeling all Christmassy!

Recommended Posts

Coo Sarah...talk about lighting the blue touch paper & departing rapidly

Is this going to be our "early Christmas planning thread" then  ?

I have to admit that I like to think & plan early, but don't like all the daft adverts "order now in time..." kind of things......and going into a pub in shorts & finding a tree & presents in the porch advertising Christmas parties is a bit much too, once it gets colder it's not so bad.

...and yes please to the mince pie....warm with a blob of cream please

Ahem, a mate is a lorry driver & last weekend he delivered a consignment of Easter goods :lol:

I love Christmas & it can't come too soon after summer for me :P

Been vaguely planning for ages now & already have nicely full stocking bags for the daughters & a good chunk of the pressies either planned or made.

Deck the halls with troughs of Bolly,

Ta la la la la,la la la la

When i was shopping with mum and my little sister at the weekend i suggested buying some clothes for my other sister for Christmas. I was met with faces like this:

I love Christmas and have started thinking about what to make for presents this year. I'm rubbish at buying presents for people but i do enjoy making little things for family.

So exciting!

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can never find people who want to be Christmassy straight after the summer hols. I'm well into Christmas right now and have lots of presents. I think buying presents is one of my favourite things and wrapping them is just lush. I have been buying ribbons throughout the year. We have a Christmas paper chain around our kitchen from 3 years ago and we didn't want to take it down. The other day I had to take it down to clean and it was so tatty and dusty I just saved about 20 links and am going to make a new one. The kids chose links they wanted to keep. Each year we buy a new christmas tree decoration so our tree is most unthemed and gaudy. I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!

oarrrr :( one of my chickens dies the other day. She was called Sue (my daughter named her after my Mum) and she laid beautiful large brown eggs. She was a Gingernut Ranger and very dark bright ginger. She was lovely. She went peacefully and we miss her. So we'll be one less this christmas but she had a good and happy life and we will toast her over christmas Pud. RIP Sue xxx

Once the nights start drawing in why not?

We have a couple of pressies stashed away and we always have a string of fairy lights on the wall over the fire. We had some lovely blue ones for a couple of years but they have died a death so we now have some brighter soft white ones.

I love Christmas but I have got to get through secondary school applications a couple of birthdays and the pre-Christmas ebay sell before I can get too excited.

Have any of you good folk got a good recipe for a chrimbo cake? Really want to make one this year, and my own mince pies as well...mmmmmmmmm I can just smell them now...

This is a dead simple & totally scrummy Christmas cake recipe..you can add all sorts of other yummy stuff to make it personal to you, but it's an excellent base.http://wiki.omlet.co.uk/index.php/Missuscluck%27s_Easy-peesy_Christmas_Cake

Check out either the "wiki" link above or tootle over to All Things Nice & have a furtle round on there for recipes :drool::drool:

We went to London at the satrt of September & Harrods had their 'Christmasland' section up & running already.

It was HUGE & really, really gorgeous - in fact we did wonder if its an all year round thing?

Here is the proof......as you can see,Hubby was a bit stunned by it all :lol:

I've made Delia's cake for ever (over 20 years) and it never fails to please. I always make it the weekend the clocks go back - that's the start of Christmas for me. My grown up daughter still comes over to help me decorate it just before Christmas.

I also use Delia's mincemeat recipe - it's really easy and incredibly scrummy. used to make my own pudding as well but have given up the last few years as no-one really wants it after lunch.
