A chickychickychick-ENN!!
I've started pottery evening classes and I've made a pumpkin lantern for halloween. It's red clay, and was made as a massive coil pot. To make the bumpy bits, You press them out with your fingers, at which point, it falls over a bit and goes a bit wonky and more pumpkin-like! I wish it wasn't quite such a scary face, but I was a bit gung-ho with my carving knife! Photo quality's a bit rubbish. Sorry.
Sunshine
Wow that is ace! In primary school we always used to do pottery as we had an outbuilding with a kiln in. How big is it?
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
A little over seven pounds in weight and the same size as a proper pumpkin. About 25-30cm diameter.

A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Dead easy Egluntyne. Have we got a kiln? It gave ME nightmares. last night. I have exiled myself to the sofa as I have a heavy cold, and it was looking at me all night over my shoulder.
PurpleTree
That's fab, love it. Are you going to paint it or anything or just leave it as it is? Would love to have a go at pottery, only did a little bit in school.
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
We use two types of clay, red and white. I've been told white is for painting and glazing and red is just fired and look raw like terracotta. It's orangey when fired, so it's as is. Pottery is ace. There are loads of adult ed classes round the country. It's fab.
