Angels4
On my last birthday...not too long ago, my auntie taught me how to crochet. Now I'm not very good and i'm not sure where to stop the ends (so it looks a litttle rough) but this is my first project and I know with a little practice I can only get better. This little bit took me 10 days to complete (I'm making a KING size afghan) so I might be done sometime in 2010 maybe.

Old Speckled Hen
Oooooh well done. I had a go at crochet once and never again. Now, I can knit but my crochet tension goes all to pot My mum has made me a crochet king size bedcover in cotton as fine as sewing thread. It took her two years She insists she is the only one to launder and starch it I am ashamed to say that for that reason I don't use it and it languishes in a box

Cinnamon
My Mum always used to Crochet, & its such a lovely thing to be able to do. Do you need to be able to knit to learn,or is it independent from that? I quite fancy having a go

Since, i've googled "Granny Squares" and there are some informative and detailed youtube videos and they say granny squares are the easiest stitch to learn. Give it a go. Ms Marple
edited cos I can't spell! Well done Mark, that looks great!! I too am trying to teach myself to crochet. I can knit but I find crochet much harder. So far I have been focussing on flowers with a view to trying to make brooches/corsage type things. I will post a pic if you don't think it is a hijack. Also have a look at a blog called Attic24 - she is a creative crotchet person who uses lovely bright colours. I always feel really inspired after reading her blog. Angels4
Thank you everybody....I'm really enjoying the relaxing quality of crocet. Ms. Marple I LOVE ATTIC24 her circle bird ormaments are fantastic and I'm thinking of trying to change them up a bit and make them into chickens. I also enjoy her photo mosaics. Valkyrie
Lovely warm colours. I can't crochet to save my life. I did try and my nan did try and teach me years ago, but I could never get past a little round blob. I'm a bit better with knitting, but I'll stick to the sewing. The Dogmother
That's lovely Mark, well done. Cinnamon - I can't knit, but can crochet, dressmake and embroider (when I have the time). Crochet is really easy, try granny squares to start; they're really easy.
