little rant..

Recommended Posts

I just need to vent my anger for a second!!

After wanting to move house for a long time and various problems with neighbours we finally reached breaking point last night when some mindless idiot decided to smash the back window on our car and pour petrol over it and my OH work van, i had probably distrubed them by the time they had done this jumping out of bed and putting the light on at 3am to find out what the hell the 2 bangs were. the police took 2 hrs to get to our house!

Anyway we ave decided to put the house on the market as enough is enough now and move back with OH mum for 6 months to save a decent deposit to start again as we will not come out with any profit once its sold. I might have to rehome my chickens as rightly so OH mum is not too keen on taking them on along with our 2 cats and 2 large fishtanks! im so annoyed that because of other mindless people i may have to give up something i love, as if its not bad enough having to fork out for a new window £85 and spend hour washing the drive down of the petrol.

Why do people do these things, they must have even paid to put petrol in the can as well. Im so down abt it all, i just dont want to be here anymore, ive lost all interest in a house i once loved..

What a complete nightmare! I take it you've been down the harrassment route? If not it's something to consider - I don't know what the police are generally like in your area but you should have a local neighbourhood officer (NSO) part of whose job it is to try and sort out neighbourhood issues, including nuisance neigbours. Are you the only neighbours suffering? If not maybe you and some others could get together, you shouldn't have to leave a house you love, suffer financially AND possibly face losing pets as a result of one family. If you're not already then you should keep a log and ring the police EVERY time something happens - they don't have to attend at the time but it can be passed to the NSO who should take action from there.

If you've done all this and got nowhere then I'm really sorry for you - my cousin has just moved back in with her mum and dad along with her husband and cats due to an awful neighbour - they're putting their house on the market too because they can't stand it any more.

One word of warning, if you're determined to move then best NOT involve the police and/or council on the harassment bit as you might have to declare any ongoing neighbour issues

Thanks for all the messages!

I hope i can find someone to foster the chicks! im asking everyone i know! The neightbours the other side complained about them over a year ago now and its still an ongoing thing with the council and police as they have been very abusive and threatning towards them. It only started with us about 6 months ago really but we havent done anything! we are simply friends with the side they are having the battle with! we have endured 3 years of loud music to 4-5am every friday and sat night, rows and police attending the house all the time and the son has recently got in trouble with the police and is awaiting a court date.

I do think this was a random thing and was just kids as unfortunately it is a common thing to happen in our area. its just the fact our cars were on our drive so they have actually come onto our property and could have caused a lot of damage.

The poilice didnt have a lot to go on really, after turning up 2 hours after i called pointing them in the direction the kids ran they had no chance of catching them. and there was no point in dusting the car as they probably never touched it, they didnt throw something at the car, well not that we can find so theres nothing to go on really. They did say they would come round and go round the street asking if anyone had seen or heard anything and will let us know when someone had been assigned to the case properly but we have heard nothing s of yet and i know they havent been around the street yet either.

The estate agent is coming around on Monday so we feel a bit better now things seem to be moving in the right direction...Lets just hope its quick as well so we can get rid of the house and the 100% mortgage we took on and start again!

Thats so awful, I really feel for you. Bad neighbours are just the worst, I feel for the people the other side of them too - I'd hate to have to live like that. Well, in that case I hope you DO make a little bit of money, maybe you're meant to move and your forever house is waiting for you around the corner :D

Crikey - sounds like pure hell! Some years ago a person that we knew (daughter in DS's year, and herself a childminder) was relocated due to threats being made and the last straw was when their caravan what set on fire. Have no idea what happened to them or who was the guilty party, but it was rather shocking to know it had happened to such a nice lady.

So I hope you end up in a much better place with much better neighbours. Hopefully you can get someone to look after your birdies for a while. Have you put a thread in the chicken section - or wanted section (temporary home needed due to nasty neighbours)?

Oooh, if I were you I'd be having more than a little rant - I'm very impressed with how sane you are about it all!

It isn't even the damage and the cost and hassle, it's how APALING it is that anyone, especially "just kids" will do that kind of thing. I've no advice to offer, beyone what has already been said above, but just wanted to add my sympathies.
