Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

OK, so I am biased, as I hate sprouts.

 

But, I thought a reduced sprout tree from the supermarket would be appreciated by the chooks. Something for them to peck at, being shut up all day most days at the moment.

 

Apparently though, sprout trees are evil and dangerous things - and they won't go near it! They ran as fast as they can in the opposite direction, bokking away, alerting everyone and everything to the fact their owners are trying to kill them with sprout trees...

 

They are funny with what they decide to take a dislike to. And nothing you can do to change their minds once something is labelled "evil".

 

Although in this case, I am inclined to agree with them...

mine don't like anything cabbage related.

 

I love sprouts! So many people boil them to death and ruin them. I remember mushy sprouts from school which were enough to put anyone off!

 

Lightly boiled or steamed, then tossed in a bit of butter they are delish!

Mine didn't until the chicks came along - they tucked into green stuff with great gusto - preference is calabrese. Then the big girls thought they were missing out and now everyone eats greens. They've just been tucking into the outer leaves of some well chopped savoy cabbage. Haven't tried them with sprouts though - gave them some leaves from my ones in the garden but they turned their noses up - I think because I hadn't chopped it for the fussy demons first.

I LOVE sprouts, in fact we had Christmas dinner yesterday with sprouts and the girls had the outer leaves today, they love them too

 

I agree, they must only be lightly boiled

they didnt bother about them untill i gave them the s"Ooops, word censored!"ps now i have to padlock the fencing around the veg patch!

 

My lovley sprouts have been savaged but only after they got the tase for them!

We hang sprout stalks in the run to give interest and our chickens love them.

We got a sprout tree at the weekend, hung 1/3 of it up in their run on some string. They are having great games packing at it whilst its swinging around.

I bought a bag of reduced sprouts the other day and threaded the sprouts onto a piece of string, my girls had loads of fun pecking away at it as it hung beneath the trampoline

The Swinging Sprouts of Doom are currently lying on the table outside, and covered in snow...

 

Perhaps will try once more - but the chooks were VERY decisive about this one - sprout trees are EVIL!

Hmmm I love them but the girls - I sew them onto a piece of string to hang across the run for them to ignore

Mine love them and part of their Christmas present last year was a huge net bag of sprouts

I love sprouts........and so do my girls BUT only if cooked!!!

 

Do they have the same effect on chickens as humans??
