craftyhunnypie
Wow what a prezzie. I too would have sobbed. Our animals are also our babies (we don't have kids either), so I know exactly how you must have felt. Gorgeous chooks. I am very Emma.x
purple hen
at a mental picture of you all chasing a chicken around, can't wait to see photo's when you get them home. Glad to hear your Niece is making progress
laurmurf
the story is the shortened version of real life- i was nearly hysterical with nerves, nearly losing mostin's new chooks! I told Elaine the longer version when she came to pick them up today.... so yes, she's got them ALL now We had a fab visit today with mostin and ShaunW, admiring her lovely new chooks and showing off hellymisscloud's dinosaurs Shaun is an absolute STAR and mostin deserves such a lovely present! shaunw
This is Mostin's OH writing a dictated reply (she is currently banned from the computer due to having had a headache for 24days!!!!!!!!, so reluctantly i am acting as secretary. And yes before you all say what a lovely OH i am she has got grief for this i can assure you) Mostin says: "The ladies are back home now from Laurie's but with a delightful surprise of a gentleman caller. Apparently the breeder couldnt bare to let 2 pullets go without a cockerel to make up a breeding trio. Redwing or Laurmurf would have happily kept him if OH hadnt let me bring him home. But i convinced him that they would pay for themselves by selling the fertile eggs or chicks and i got to bring all 3 home today. So now i have 2 cockerels!!!!!!! And lots of pure breeds to enter in the northern poultry show. It was dark when we got them home so sorry guys photos will have to be tomorrow but they seem to have lovely characters. They have been named "Molly" after Molly Ringwald, red haired actress from 80's and Rosie after red haired actress Rose Macgowan from Charmed. Cockerel is called Rød, which is Danish for Red (OH has lots of Danish friends and business colleagues). It was lovely to have a chance to drool over hellymissclouds dinosaur chooks, they are really cute in real life and the new WIR is fab. Laurie has a saint of an OH as well. Thanks for all your kind words about our niece, she is still much the same unfortunately/fortunately so fingers crossed."
Redwing
Thanks for the update Shaun Good to know that Mostin is still chuffed The cockerel is a sweetheart, a very soft character
shaunw
Oh she is very chuffed allright. She loves you and laurmurf to bits right now, and me of course. But i am getting lots of praise here when in fact it was Laurmurf and you who did most of the hardwork, i just came up with the idea. Still i will take any praise i can get. mostin
Hi Gang, pictures as promised- The trio are now settled in the eglu run within the WIR and everybody got to meet each other this morning. There was quite a bit of chuntering but nothing too volatile at all. I hope from the following pictures how pretty my new hens are and how chuffed I am. Rød at the back, Molly in the middle and Rosie at the front. Rød strutting his funky stuff. Mostin and the new girls. Treat time for Molly. Bill sizing up the competition. For loads more pics look at my album on Mostin's Chooks or on facebook. Edited December 27, 2009 by Guest

chick wiggle
Oh Mostin, they look absolutely fantastic, and I have to agree, Bill looks huge, it would be a very brave chicken indeed who messes with him. The new girls look very happy in your arms but I have to say the very best thing about your pictures is the huge big beautiful smile on your face (and no wonder!) mostin
Written by ShaunW dictated by Mostin. "Laurie, just given shaunw slap round back of head for being rude and pedantic about spelling of chickens name. Glad you all like the photos so much, its true i cant believe how huge Bill is next to Rød. I hope they both behave when they are the same size." Valkyrie
I think this is the most entertaining thread for the holidays! Have had to check myself for the howling laughter that wanted to break free when reading about the hen's great escape! I remember you saying that you'd joined the Sussex club at the show, Mostin. Wonderful stories and well done for all the teamwork for a lovely present!
Chook n Boo Mum
What a gloriously coloured flock you have now Mostin........sure you wouldn't like a light Sussex boy to add to the mix..........only joking, keeping track of two is going to be fun enough !! You look such a happy chook mummy...and Shaun, well done for typing exactly what has been dictated Fantastic tale of the swapover Tasha, very funny to read but a total nightmare in reality I'm sure.......... for Omlet Power I hope your head sorts itself soon Mostin and your niece improves too Sha x
