Christian
Hello All! Just trying to book a week away for July and was wondering if any of you knew when the schools break up for summer? Will be using staff travel with BA and only get on if there are seats, so trying to avoid school hols. Many thanks
bronze
Round here they break up 22nd July ( I think)
Cinnamon
It depends on where you are. In Oxfordshire we are on the 6 term year & they break up on July 25th. But it varies from county to county & even from school to school, with private schools having much longer holidays than other schools. Richard T
Local council websites usually have school term and holiday dates. For Hampshire, if that is where the school is, look here: http://www.hants.gov.uk/education/schools/holidays.php But it's worth checking with the school because schools often have "professional day closures" (also known as "insect" days, I believe ) at the beginnings and ends of terms. AnnieP
schools often have "professional day closures" (also known as "insect" days, I believe ) at the beginnings and ends of terms. Yep: Its when us teachers either crawl out of, or back under, our stones......
feemcg
Scottish schools break up last week in June - which unfortunately means its usually nice weather when they go back middle of August!

One Man Banned
You're going to get the available seats on the plane when the schools are out... We go when the schools are out to have at least some quiet time away! another very good reason for being off from the 4th Feb for a week! Sorry to pinch your thread Christian but anyone got any ideas where we should go for the week - haven't booked a site yet (as we're going in the caravan!!) Lesley
Andrew - I would say go back and look at Anglesey properly, not just Holyhead . But perhaps not early February I have paddled in the sea on Anglesey in February though - they get lumped in with North Wales weather forecasts but have their own micro system which means much nicer weather. chelsea
We have a touring caravan too.... Our favourite sites at the moment are Old Oaks near Glastonbury which is a lovely small, quiet site with walks to the Tor from the site - so ideal for the dog. Another one is Wareham Forest in Dorset - set directly in the forest which is perfect for us with the dog,...loads of walks and sniffs from the caravan door and close to the beaches of swanage and studland bay too ! Lesley
close to the beaches of swanage and studland bay too ! Surely a bit cold for the beaches at Studland?
feemcg
Andrew, how far do you usually tow? My favourite site is New England Bay (Caravan Club Site), Dumfries and Galloway - right on the beach and loads to do and see round about. Tina C
We love Southwold in Suffolk but I don't think the site there is open yet - and there are no electric hook-ups.... but there are other sites in the area. Good for big skies and birdwatching and seals further up the coast, ooh and crabbing in summer. Dogs are allowed on the beach. There is a working harbour and you can buy fresh fish and seafood from huts - although not sure they are open at this time of year.... Perhaps this is one for later in the year..... One Man Banned
Back! Sorry took me so long I have had to get on with so many other things this week that my forum time has had to go by the by! We're quite keen on going somewhere "Down South" as we hope to walk a bit more of the South West Coast Path. - thanks for all the sugesstions Might be on a little more later but for now, it's speed read through the posts (no posting) to catch up and then it's time to edit some more music, print some t-shirts and try and get a bit more rehearsal in for Saturday - it's turning into a cold I think so getting bunged up and my eyes are starting to sting - almost done though, got suit from dry cleaners, had my hair cut to look my best (it's a salons award night after all ! Karen & co.
Hi Andrew We stayed on a very nice site right on the coastal path, that was in the Best of British campsite brochure. I think it was called Highlands End Karen x
Guest
Andrew, try to do 10 minutes of steam inhalation 3 times a day and drink LOTS of water. This will help to flush away all the mucus. Good luck with it, it's devastating to go down with a cold isn't it?
