Suppliers of fabrics for cushion covers - UPDATE with photos

Recommended Posts

Having now ordered a new sewing machine, I'm determined to make a lot of use of it. We need new cushion covers, and I'm thinking of doing not exactly patchwork ones, but ones with stripes of different material, and maybe one or two of the stripes having pintucks in them.

What I need is an online supplier of good fabrics for patchwork or remnants for crafting. There are loads when I Google it, so do any of you have preferred suppliers? I could go to Hobbycraft in Tamworth, but they are very pricey.

I've used several of the online suppliers and they've all been pretty quick, Doughtys and JB Fabrics often have some nice sale fabrics.

And I like these 2 suppliers as they do more unusual fabrics

Thank you guys - very helpful.

Hungry Horse is quite near my dentist, so I can pop in next time I'm at the there, as I still go to my old dentist in Sutton. I haven't been to the feed centre there as I use a local farm for our feed and Hemcore, but I could pop in and see what they have.

Birmingham - a bit of a trek for me, I'm afraid. I don't travel that well these days, so I'm really looking for an online supplier.

Well, the new sewing machine is fabulous, and after using it to mend DH's boiler suit, I used some of the fabric I got from Fireside Fabrics to make these three cushion covers.

I'm really pleased with them. Only need to get a few poppers to finish off the opening (I thought I had some, but I haven't).

They do a great range of fabrics, so thanks for the pointers.

They really do some very unusual fabrics :) It looks a bit more lively than old cream coloured canvas slightly enhanced by cat pee, which was the previous offering for these cushions.

I can't wait to make some more :)

Cathy - were you really trying to cut down on spending for 2010? - LOL :lol:

Well these are on the favourite list (which means much more on another list  ):

Fabric is least expensive here:

This one is brilliant for Oriental fabrics:

All sorts of pretties for the rest:

And I visited this one - and bought more online from Richard:

Of course the exchange rate is bleh at the moment - which is really bugging me with withdrawal symptoms, but it's better for me as I won't buy anything until I've used my current stash!

:clap: Those are brilliant Docsqid. I love the way you've mixed the fabrics, they have a look of random co-ordination, which is definitely a compliment & hard to achieve.

Random co-ordination :) I like that! They do brighten up the room and that is what I wanted to achieve. I have some smaller cushions but they are going to be patchwork covers now I've bought a proper cutting board and cutter.
