Space Chick Posted March 7, 2010 Share Posted March 7, 2010 I am heartbroken, we have just had to send Polly to the great flock in the sky We were out free ranging, and I noticed that there was a significant amount of blood coming from her vent, then she poo'd and prolapsed So Phil and I decided that we needed to do what was best by her. It was horrible, Phil has been sobbing uncontrollably, he thinks he did a bad job as it took 2 attempts. I think she was dead after the first attempt. But congratulations on the dispatch - you both did the right thing so she didn't suffer any longer (and it feels a lot longer but is quicker in real time). The first is the worst - I think I could do it again if I had to - as long as it isn't too soon. Hellooooo Josh welcome home! Yep - JJ's the summary Queen. All bets are off I visited my family this weekend and after lots of snuggles with my little nephew I went down to my little brother and his chooks on his shared allotment. After playing name that breed for a little while I spotted something. A little dotte bantam with bad scaley leg. LIttle brother explained that she arrived recently mixed in with some dotte boys that they rehomed as thier owner couldn't keep them. SO..............after a snuggle that I disguised as a medical inspection i had fallen in love. I kept hold of her as we wandered around and little brother asked if I wanted a box for that I stayed strong for about five mins saying that OH would kill me etc but little brother said she would probably go back to auction or "something" else as she was the only bantam and her legs are bad SO look who is now living with me...at least until her legs are sorted: She has been Free Ranging in the garden this afternoon whilst the others look on longingly from the flowerbeds. We have had a spa hour and she has had her feet washed, brushed, massaged, sprayed and nails clipped and she is now installed in her own little ark for the night Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
