I guess that you might be using Firefox Version 2 - which seems to be having problem rendering the page. Could you check this for me by clicking Help -> About Mozilla Firefox.

Do I need to upgrade? It's just that I need to do some shopping from your shop :)

 

PS Hope my post didn't come across as too abrupt - was running late for my eye test and didn't have my lenses in so kept making typos :lol:

For completeness' sake.....

 

The Breeds section of the German site has headings in German, but the paragraphs are still in English. It's OK for the other languages.

 

Also, none of the non-English sites' home pages have the links to change languages. You can flip from English to French, but not back again.

The forum still has the old design in the navigation bar once you've clicked through from the 'club' homepage. Why is the forum not updated to bring it in line with the rest of the site? Especially as you now have latest posts from the forum on the club page.

 

I am anti the latest posts on the club page. We post a lot of chicken stuff, but where there is a sense of community, a lot of people post more personal things about family and issues they are having. It seems a bit too 'tabloidy' having these posts on the club homepage. People post to the forum because they feel a sense of trust, but if they were to be posted here that would mean their stuff was a lot more exposed. I can't see it doing the omlet brand any favours having a post like (made up) 'help, really upset - mother in law doing my head in' on the club homepage.

 

Could there be an option whereby forum posters can choose whether or not they want their posts posted to the feed on the club homepage or not?

 

EDIT: James - some feedback on this point from Omlet would be really good. Incidentally, who tests and gives you feedback on site rejigs before they go live? I often get the sense you get feedback retroactively from the forum, and issues could be ironed out before go-live if you had a more comprehensive testing panel in a beta testing environment. I'm sure forum members, particularly the web savvy ones or ones who work in the sector would be happy to help out.

Thats a really good point - perhaps posts from certain sections of the forum shouldnt be displayed eg nesting box, free to good home section etc.. ones where the posts arent always chickeney...

 

I dont like the summary page as it delays me getting to the forum but thats just something I need to make peace with :lol:

"Pas encore des poulets", I think, although my French is pretty ropey these days. It'd also be "Noch keine Huehne" in German.

 

And no, I don't think the forum is translated dynamically into several languages, except if put through a translation tool like Google at the behest of the reader. What I mean is that German, French and Dutch versions of the commercial part of the site are available, but not all the translations have been completed.

I can see people being interested in the topic titles, especially if it answers their questions about eglus, but can see some of them not being 'appropriate' for the shop website - at the moment the first thread is "Disaster....", and the second is the Crazy thread - would scare anyone away from the forum, and we'll always be in the top 5 because its posted in all the time :lol: :lol:

 

You could always save the forum Index page as a favourite :wink: or just google Omlet forum and its at the top :D

Hello again James!

 

I've just tried to buy some items from the shop but get to the very last stage of the checkout (entering my payment details) and I get this error...

 

"Oops, there was a problem with your card details.

Missing or incorrect: Cardholder Country, Delivery Country"

 

But I've checked my registration address, delivery address and all my card details and can't see anywhere to enter country details so can't see where I've gone wrong! :wall:

 

Is it down to the Firefox 2.0.0.14 problem again?

Hi,

 

1) Space Chick - Thanks for the feedback. We have fixed the bug which was stopping you from emailing course attendees. We have also fixed the problem which was spotting feedback from being shown in the course area.

 

2) chickychickychick-ENN - Thanks for your feedback regarding the new Club homepage. I agree with the points you make. I think that it might be better if we didn't post the nesting box comments but perhaps only ones relating to chickens, rabbits and bees perhaps - which are less personal. I am not sure if there is a setting which will allow people to op-out of the having their comments not shown, but I will look into this.

 

Regarding your point about feedback, the site has been designed completely by listening to lots of comment made to us on the Forum and elsewhere. We are delighted to have feedback and will try and make changes accordingly. :)

 

We are going to update the style of the Forum shortly - with the new buttons, widening up the site and making the text black. Which should make it smarter and easier to read. Before, we do this however, I will make a post of the Forum asking for input.

 

Thanks once again for the feedback. Keep it coming it is much appreciated!

James, a few quick ones from me :)

 

1. Under the links tab, howsabout setting the links to open in a new window so the Omlet website stays open?

 

2. And there are no manuals in the Club/Manuals section - I was looking for the manual for the Eglu run as I'm trying to figure out if I am any missing parts (ie the square extras to stop foxes digging underneath the Eglu doorway).

 

3. I think the "how to set up on wood chippings" should have an up-to-date photo of the Eglu with the extra two squares skirting under the flanks of the Eglu.

 

4. oooh the PDF here actually refers to BARK chippings and not wood :shock: - and the general consensus on the froum is to avoid bark chips because they harbour mould and get minging really quickly :lol:

 

5. the main Eglu page in the shop shows the duck Eglu as blue - which I thought was discontinued? And the Eglu brochure has been updated with the new prices but states that 6 colours are available and also shows the blue. Is it making a comeback? :lol:

 

Sorry if this is nit-picking! But I'm like a pringle, just couldn't stop :lol:
