Seagazer
I'm laying on the settee with a pillow under my knee after having an accident last night. We were at my OH's cousin's charity ball in memory of his girlfriend and they have a dodgem track for after the meal and during the evening. I let one of OH's other cousin drive me around and we got struck really hard. My knee crashed into the steering wheel and is so painfull. I was a complete wimp and cried and had to be helped hobbling to the taxi to the hotel. Its got a lovely red mark and a lot of bruising. Mind you on the bright side I haven't had to do anything since coming home. Thats the last time I will go on a dodgem

Seagazer
Thank you, just feeling bit sorry for myself. Am now wondering if my hubby's idea of going to A & E might have been a good one. Trouble was I had a long evening dress on, which was fine, but it was the rather ugly pair of spanx underneath that I didn't fancy showing off to any doctors Thankfully it happened by the end of the evening (1 am) or I would have been really upset to miss out on the dancing. Hopefully they raised a lot of money for some very worthwhile charities.
theherd123
Sounds like you had a fab evening, poorly knee aside that is! I do hope it starts to feel better soon but im sure chocolate & wine will help in the meantime!
Chucky1
Am now wondering if my hubby's idea of going to A & E might have been a good one. Poor you, but I think he may have a point and it's probably worth getting it looked at
Chucky Mama
Have you taken something to help reduce the pain and inflammation like nurofen or paracetamol? Packet of frozen peas may help too Hope you feel better soon

Looney
OWwwww You have my absolute sympathy Ann. I went on dodgems (the last time I ever went on) when I was about 16 and had a head on collision with a stupid boy. His fault not mine, honest! I hit my knee upwards on the steering wheel and the pain was absolutely excruciating, it felt as though I had almost torn my knee cap off. If in doubt, go see a doctor. chickencam
I hope that your knee is on the mend. I am sorry to say but I couldn't help but think of Cinderella when I read your post, about your hasty exit from the ball. *runs and hides* I am full of sympathy really having had a painful back all week, being laid up is no fun. Seagazer
Thanks everyone, makes me feel better. My hubby laughed at me for putting the seat belt thing on but honestly if you think probably most of the people there had had a bit to drink I though I was being safe. Its a bit easier this morning although doesn't like bending very much. I think it'll be fine. Liz - I hope your back feels better soon. Lesley
I sympathise with you Ann - that sounds sore! If you find it swells and won't bend it would be worth finding a Sports Physio for remedial massage - that was the only way I managed to get my leg to bend at all after the last injusy and I still see the physio now for a regular MOT (on all joints!) That must have been really painful Knees are such complicated joints that I agree with Lesley. Best not let it go on for too long. Do hope it gets better really quickly though
Reikiranf
How's your knee today Ann? It sounds really painful, I hope it gets better quickly, we need to find a new lunch venue so that may take a bit of walking around! Amanda
jlo
You poor thing. I hope that your knee is starting to feel better. If not, I agree with those others who have advised having it looked at. You can never be too careful with knees!
Seagazer
Its improving day by day thank goodness although its still swollen and painfull to bend. It also keeps giving way at odd times which is not very helpfull. Plus the dog keeps laying down everywhere I need to go and I can't lift my knee to get over her. I bet she's getting really fed up of me shouting at her to move Amanda, we can meet up anywhere as soon as you are ready to. How are you holding up? I'm still thinking of you and your family. Reikiranf
I'm doing ok thanks Ann, thankfully I made some good friends at my last job so I'm getting free acupuncture on Saturday, which I'm assured will do me the world of good! I know you probably don't feel like it at the moment but ice is the best thing for the swelling on your knee Heat may feel soothing but can actually increase any inflammation Amanda
Seagazer
Good luck with the acupuncture Amanda, I've never had it done although my DD did for her asthma when she was a child, seemed to help her for that. You need to give yourself some reiki - can you do it on yourself? I'm going to attempt some walking today - OH taking me to John Lewis to get my birthday present

How did you manage to extract yourself from the dreaded Spanx with a painful knee Must have taken quite a feat of manouevering You're not kidding - and I tried to do it without hubby seeing as, lets be honest, they're not the most flattering of things are they? Thats why I didn't want to go to hospital
