Lovely Thank-You Present

Recommended Posts

Last week our elderly neighbour collapsed at home. We went in to help him and he went to hospital to be checked out.

This week he called me over to the fence when I was cleaning out the chicken house. He had bought us this lovely thank-you present.

Isn't that fantastic? We give him a few eggs from time to time, and he always talks to the chooks over the fence. Now we have a chicken by our fireplace reminding us of our girls when we are sitting down in the evening.

He has been a neighbour for over 30 years. His wife died last year, and he's not in the best of health, so we look out for him. He has had various heart problems, by-pass surgery and is diabetic. We have had to call the ambulance twice for him in the last 6 months when he's had a funny turn.

I was bowled over by him thinking of us! He obviously likes our little chickens, as do all our neighbours.

I saw you post about this on FB, it is so lovely. How sweet, your chooks and your friendship must really mean a lot to him :D:D:D:D:D .

Thank you. Yes, I think he really likes the chickens. He lost both his cats and then his wife in quick succession. He feeds our cats in his garden sometimes - we don't mind as he enjoys it. He is always talking to the chickens over the fence :)

We are very lucky with our neighbours as they all like the chickens. I dread to think what might happen if he decides to move away (maybe to be nearer his son) and sells the house as we could get somebody who objects to them. We have thought about buying the house ourselves if he moves, and letting it out, so at least the occupants couldn't object as they'd be our tenants!

In the meantime, we're so happy that he's still there, still enjoying our little chooks.
