Chook n Boo Mum
........or just a bad tempered little minx After I turfed her off she ranted for a while but did stay outside for the rest of the day.........I hope we don't go through this every day she spits fire & brimstone at the other bantams when she's on the nest Sha x

Chook n Boo Mum
Whooppee .......I'll need to get the Pekin Run fox-proof sooner than I thought so I can fit the dog cage in for the monster minx to sleep in for a day or two Holly also had a turn in there this afternoon & I evicted her too..next thing I knew, whilst moving the cube to it's new position, DS was catching an airborne Holly ...we let her carry on her tirade & rant up the new run & into the nestbox....DD went up to check on her demeanour only to find one exiting chook bottom and a very warm egg in the nest......we felt very at turfing her out before she was ready Sha x

Chook n Boo Mum
Oh no, I don't WANT a broody, this little minx lays for about 10 days then goes broody of her own free will ......well that's what she did in Sept/Oct when she first started laying..I hope the egg drought this time is shorter than the last one (all winter until about 2 weeks ago ) Also the last time I had a proper broody (Buffie) all her sisters came out in sympathetic maternity leave ie no eggs....the Pekins had better not follow their example Sha x
Cooks
no no you DO want Pepsi... I am not putting up with her naughtiness next time.. she can travel to Auntie Sha... Blossom is sooo sweet and cute and couldn't be any trouble... could she?
Chook n Boo Mum
Small in size...big in attitude You're an expert now anyway, one look at the broody cage & she'll snap out of it instantly Got to go to bed now..can't keep eyes open (have posted pics of the Pekin run on the Run section ) Sha x

Chook n Boo Mum
Well just to update you all......Missy Stroppy Pants is not broody, she's been tootling around the run & although there were 3 eggs in the nestbox when we got home, she was downstairs & as happy as she normally is Sorry to have got all your hopes up, but very glad I won't have to break the mood or get her some eggs to sit on.............yet Sha x
coco
I've got two broodys but only one gets to sit in the nest box until I turf them both out. The other girls are still laying in the nest box so she must move out of the way for them. Both in full strop mode though.
craftyhunnypie
Now why couldn't mine have stayed broody? Millefleur eggs totally abandoned & probably go to waste. Emma.x
Chook n Boo Mum
The Banshee Pancake impression is very much in evidence today ......she looks like she's on some kind of drug or an overwound toy when I remove her from the nest box & put her in the run some 15 metres away....she threw some bits & bobs of leaves etc in the air like a petulant brat.......steamed up the run, stopped for a slurp of water & a few pellets, leapt into the dust bath & flung some soil around....jumped up on the perches in the cube run, shrieking at the top of her lungs, then disappeared back into the nestbox She's now sitting in there all fluffed up with her tail nearly touching her head she's so agitated..........do I get some eggs or break the mood Sha x
Seagazer
Shouldn't laugh really as Butch goes broody at the drop of a hat. She was really telling you off though wasn't she
Chook n Boo Mum
I've made a decision.....broodiness is not part of the plan for this week........ Missy Stroppy Pants is now in the run with the door to the house & nestbox firmly closed I can't fit my dog cage into the run so she would be foxproof but separate, and I don't think she'd be overly impressed at waking up in the morning trapped in the dog cage in the WIR with 11 big girls in close proximity The run is covered with a sheet of plastic and there's a perch in there for her to roost on....once she's stopped stamping from one end to the other & shouting her little head off The other little ones were avoiding her as she was in such a foul mood at being kept from the nestbox, so separation was the only option for now........ I don't feel comfortable going away for a few days the week after next & leaving her with a friend in charge, however competent he is with creatures, I don't think it's fair on him maybe next time she can have some babies Sha x
