Where's the wine!!!

 

We have just completed the finishing touches on our complete bathroom refurbishment & it's ....aaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!

What more cn we say?

 

New ceiling, skimmed walls, new white with a hint of grey tiles (and a dark grey patterned border tile), got rid of the horrid & excessively large corner spa bath for a slim eco-bath, daffodil white on the plaster and a wonderfully underlaid cinnnamon carpet!

 

Now we can get 3 to 4 people in the bathroom standing together where we couldn't get more than one (and that was a fiddle with the bath and a huge basin cabinet in the old bathroom!!! We are not sad to see it go after 8 years of sidling round the bath to get to the sink!

 

Awaiting some Everloc fittings that suction to the walls. Anyone got any experience of these?

Show us your pics! Mine isn't quite finished. There's woodwork to be painted but I won't hold my breath.

Okay! Okay! Here are some pics. The bathroom is 1800x2100mm so it was quite difficult getting a good view, but here goes:

 

 

 

 

 

The shower curtain rail is a "bendi rail" which was brilliant as we could shape it to the bath outline which meant the window wasn't obstructed by the curtain.

 

We don't intend having loads of people in the bathroom, but it is nice to get one in with room to dry off without having to stand in the bath to do so. The spa bath took up an enormous amount of space!

very nice that bathroom is big compared to mine if you took off the door and space between that and the window thats my bathroom. We managed a normal bath and a tiny sink thats it!!

I bought some quite expensive suck on bathroom bits had silver bits you twisted, but kept falling off the wall. They have the name croydex on the suction bits.

Yep! The suction items we've ordered are Croydex, but not "Twist & Lock" which need absolutely smooth flat surfaces to stick. We've ordered the "Everloc", which are able to stick on rough tiles as well. We chose them partly because we like to be sure and partly because our tiles are slightly rippled so the surface is not absolutely flat. Apparently they are extra "sticky" on the suction cup. We think they've been developed after the others with kitchen surfaces in mind, but bathroom items have been added on. We'll let you know what they're like. They tried to deliver today, but it was during the 2 hours I was out so they're coming on Monday now...when I'm IN!

 

Fur says the bathroom is quite big for an old house and that the only really big bathrooms are bedroom conversions.

We chose the shape because it's enabled us to have more space to put the sink beside the foot of the bath between it and the door. The measurements are 700mm width at the head and 600mm at the foot, but it curves out to 730mm at the head end (like a hint of a P-shaped bath. It's worked really well and it's full length (aaahhhhhh .

 

We used different trades to do the work - people we've used before & trust. I contract managed it and drew up the plan & schedule (I used to work in housing adaptations years ago). After a diasterous previous 2 experiences of letting companies do the whole thing we felt it best to manage it ourselves - all went well and to schedule, partly because we made sure all the items were on site in good time and partly because of the excellent trades. It just left us with the painting to do ourselves before the carpet was laid. Probably saved us a lot of money as well.
