Lesley
Jazz appears to have Cold Tail - usually a consequence of swimming in cold water or being in damp conditions but apparently can also be from enthusiastic wagging I hadn't heard of it but had a look on the Labrador Forums to see if I could find out what was wrong. Jazz hasn't been swimming but I did take her to the Vet and she does come over all unnecessary when visiting the Vets - she loves going and is beside herself to see the Vet, nearly wagging her tail off Maybe just some overenthusiastic wagging . She's fine in herself and is eating as normal and running around with Tali - she seemed puzzled at first and kept looking at her rear end which was what alerted me but she seems to be accepting now. Apparently it should settle down in a few days........

The Dogmother
I've heard of it Lesley - labs are more prone because they just wag so much. Some vets treat it, but I've heard that it usually settles on its own.
Snowy
Sounds like Vibration White Finger - generally suffered by operators of heavy, vibrating machinery, where they start to suffer nerve damage and subsequent loss of sensation in their fingers. Symptoms are intermittant at first, but become permanent if exposure continues. I never associated it with a dogs tail, but I can see how it can happen! Ruby's little stubby tail is always wagging against something. Ooh, I came over all clinical then!
Gamebird
Poor Jazz. It's so sad to see a Lab lose their wag. Cold tail is quite a common complaint in Labradors and can either be caused by cold water hitting the base of the tail or indeed over-wagging. It is something to do with the nerves at the base of the tail and usually resolves in a few days but sometimes can take a couple of weeks. It is an unpleasant sensation for the poor dog and is a bit like having a stiff neck in humans. Lots of tlc and cuddles needed.

Lesley
A Lab without a wag just isn't right She is moving her tail a bit more now so I'm hoping it will soon sort itself out.
