Feeling Hot Hot Hot...any advice?

Recommended Posts

*sigh* They flee from me that once did seek me out.... I seem to have hit a pocket of peri-menopausal turbulence and the internal boiler has gone haywire (in fact as I type this it is starting, the prickle between the shoulderbaldes and up the back of the neck  ) I'm damned if I'm taking HRT, I've heard good things about Progesterone cream... any recommendations? Lifestyle/dietary changes that help?

Thanks

Rhaps x

I bought my Mum a chillow....its a pillow that you can chill ( obviously!!- gosh I'm dim) My mum used it at night, when she had a hot flush. I was amazed to see my mum suddenly be drenched in perspiration...as if from nowhere...like she had been in the shower. She was still nursing then, and had to carry spare uniforms, undies etc....not fun. Hugs to you x x x

Also, my Mum was told by her sister that HRT was poison etc..and my mum resisted for a long while, but she did take it in the end, and found some relief. But I know that's a personal decision.

this is not a link to a premarin site, it's a non- PMU site, it seems, lots of info about non PMU drugs etc...i've had a quick scan thorugh...but can't concentrate, as have not had much sleep, and am trying to do online grocery shop...mind numbing!

Hope you can find something that suits you and offer you some help, and hope you have understanding help and support at home...my dad and sister were worse than useless......poor Mum...we laugh about it now...but she used to slam the doors so hard, soot fell down the chimney...and when she'd just about finished rowing us...BAM! the door would fly open,....." AND ANOTHER THING>>>>>>>" Me and mum do laugh about it... :P

I took HRT for a while with a lot a relief only my gynae took it off me due to weight gain.

I asked if anything would help as i had tried everything else. He told me he told all his

female patients to take Sage Leaf capsules...Holland and Barrett sell them......

They helped Lots....i was a nurse and would drip with persperation and my HCA

would wipe my face when i was changing patients dressings so nothing dripped into wounds

......i laugh now but it wasn't funny at the time. Give it a go they are good.

Femarelle is the best thing ever Rhapsody - I tried various HRT types a few years ago, none of which agreed with me and/or my ethics re PMU. Also tried different supplements with no real improvement. The symptoms returned with a vengeance at the beginning of this year, so on the recommendation of a friend I tried Femarelle. The symptoms started to recede at the end of the second month and now I wouldn't be without it. :D

Sorry to say I am in year 8 of flushes :?:?

Couldnt take HRT due to Breast cancer scare, So Soya does help ( a bit ) Agnus Castus ( think thats the spelling) worked for about a year but once body gets used to it off I go again!

Unfortunately wine is the worst, make me flush almost straight away, so try not to drink in week but suffer at the weekend as refused to give up ( sound like an alcholic )

Well after Claret's recommendations, I have been taking Femarelle for about a week. I hadn't really noticed before, but I haven't needed to throw off the covers and put them back on at night since then. I would say that's definitely a plus because my sleep was really suffering - in addition to OH snoring of course. Although I have felt a hot spot at the top of my legs where I can only describe it as feeling as though someone is sitting on my lap. :? I have only had the dead finger's a couple of times and that has now moved to my little finger - so I'm hoping that will stop too. As for the other symptoms I think it's too early to tell.

I am beginning to wonder about this too. I am 43 and normally quite a cold person, but recently I seem to be getting suddenly so hot that I feel quite stressed by it, and I am hot in bed too. I flush when I drink wine too, but I won't stop my weekend tipple.

I have a Mirena coil, that the Doc said after it is next changed in 2012 I will be able to leave in and it should help with the menopause.

Off to read about Femarelle.

Ah yes the blushing alcohol thing - yep, me too!

Claret - a jolly good kick seems to do the trick. Unfortunately he starts up just as I doze off again, so I now wedge him on his side so he can't roll forwards or backwards (he can snore in virtually any position), and if that doesn't work I yank his head up to try and unblock his pipes. Sounds mean - well yes, if I disturb his sleep then revenge is sweet. But if it works and he stops snoring I won't be mean after that because I'll be blotto and not having to throw covers on and off is an added bonus!

my cousin passed away age 31 from breast cancer so when her older sister found a tiny lump two yrs or so ago, she went for the radical option of immediate hysterectomy and bilateral mastectomy. She of course then went through a very accelerated menopause as she no longer has ovaries. She used to love wine and dairy products, but has found that these are the two things that set off the flushes and sweats, so having given both up (painfully!) she says it's much better now.

The odd vodka seems to be agreeable if that helps!

Been doing lots of internet research re hot flushes and sage leaf capsules came up fairly regularly as being helpful. Went into the heath shop yesterday and asked what they would recommend for hot flushes and they immediately said that women come back time and time again for sage leaf capsules as it really seems to work. So started on them yesterday and will let you know if they have any effect - they are also quite cheap.

I am quite anti taking anything if I can help it but sage seems fairly innocuous and I would like to sleep through the night again!

Also got some linseeds, sunflower seeds and sesame seeds to mix with my morning muesli (which I have with soya milk) as these seem to be particularly helpful as well. Might start cheeping soon

I am taking Femarelle too, after reading about it on here and three weeks in I am definitely noticing an improvement. I'm not getting so hot at night and daytime flushes are not so bad and I'm sure I'm sleeping better, in fact the only thing not to have improved is my OHs snoring. I had a hysterectomy 5 years ago but still have my ovaries and I can't take HRT due to the cancer risk.

The night flushes were the worst in my book - just didn't get any sleep and had to change nightwear on occasion too. I have noticed a distinct improvement since I started taking it in March or April - at first it was slow to make any changes and I was sceptical, but now I don't get any hot flushes at all, my skin is back to normal - no dryness, and it has got me back to my usual happy self.

I once stopped taking it to see if it really worked, and it was horrendous going back to all that.
