By that time I was so uncomfortable that i was ecstatic that Rosie would be delivered soon and safely, that was all that mattered when it came to it. chicken bark Posted October 8, 2010 Share Posted October 8, 2010 I did pregnancy yoga and at the end of each session we had to lie on the floor and 'relax'. Unfortunately as I had SPD it took me about 10 minutes and the worst pain you can imagine to get back up again. I was stupid lying on the floor in the first place but thought it might help. Getting in and out of bed was awful. I remember having to use the sheets to help pull me up and tugged at my nightie in such a way that helped me turn onto my side so I could dangle my legs over the edge of the bed hoping to get enough momentum to swing me up out of bed without breaking the pain barrier. Childbirth was a breeze after that and the SPD went as soon as I went into labour. He was 3 days late though. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. CallyChook Posted October 8, 2010 Author Share Posted October 8, 2010 I know well that routine for getting out of bed, it's definitely better to get the legs out and then let them help pull me up as I cant use the muscles along the inside of my thigh without screaming out! Also now she's dropped it feels like I'm crushing her poor skull between my hips when i move in bed. Bless her she'll come out with a conehead. With my son I didn;t have this so much, instead I had sciatica at the end where my entire left leg was completely dead or electrified with pain - I used to have to roll out of bed (without pain) onto my left and drop onto the floor like a cat rolling out of a window. The leg would jolt like it'd been hit with a sledge hammer in my buttock, and then I'd be perfectly fine for the rest of the day so long as i didnt sit still for too long. This time I've been sore since about 11 weeks pregnant, it hurts to walk, bend, standing still is agonising, and when I am in bed after about 10 minutes if I havent dropped straight off then that's it, I'm in pain for the rest of the night. Putting a pillow between my thighs and knees helped at first, but then I developed vulval varicosities (as grim as they sound) and having hte pillow there makes them ache like I have been kicked in the area by a large draft horse wearing lead shoes. Some nights I opt for hip pain, others I go for the undercarriage pain.... I am sooooo keen to get this baby out and hopefully return to a bit of normality. The pain is so bad sometimes that I lie there crying wondering if I went to my obstetrician they might induce as I have such severe pain. It's only the horror of the last hospital birth that keeps me strong on the idea of having a natural home birth. I just hope I don't have another fortnight of this to go, as the pain since she has engaged about a week ago is doubly worse. *sob* Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I had one when expecting my daughter and she put in an appearance very soon after. Didn't hurt either. May be try giving your community midwife a ring, sounds like you are in a lot of pain, from my experience they are very sympathetic and can get things moving. Although keeping mobile is good, I'm not keen on the suggestions of lifting and over exerting yourself, I thought Griffin gave fab advice. So, save your strength, plan a few treats such as Strictly while you wait, trust your midwife and your instincts and let nature take it's course. Head engaged a week? I reckon baby is waiting for peace and quiet, and no more curry tricks etc, then she'll calmly appear. All the best. PS. Cross posted, good idea to get in touch with your midwife. I keep trying not to think about it, but I justcan't help it. Feel like a kiddy that someone has said "christmas is in *about* a week" who has then waited a week and is listening intently for the sound of sleigh bells... I will tantrum if I have to wait another fortnight for my pressie!!! My son really wants to be here for the birth, but is going to his biological father's for the night from 1.30 this afternoon. maybe she'll be contrary like me and come then so that he misses it. Griffin Posted October 9, 2010 Share Posted October 9, 2010 (((Hugs))) That's exactly how I felt last time, it was like waking up on Christmas morning only to be told it had been cancelled and might come the next day instead or maybe not I seem to cook my babies for an extra five days, the last three were all five days late. The last two each weighed 8 lbs 2 ozs so I feel as if my body has perfected the art of making a baby Shame Mr Griffin put a stop to it by going for the chop Dr Griffin prescribes a pyjama day for you. A day of rest and relaxation, yummy food, Strictly, X Factor, an early night and hopefully a baby tomorrow when your son is home to welcome her. I've opted for a very comfy mid length jersey dress, as I didnt bother to splash out on maternity pj's and my normal ones are all too tight under my bump I've neglected the birds, as in they have plain water today no fancy garlic or ACV, and have just had pellets and been released - no fuss and no chatter! My son is dressed, his bag is ready, so now we're spending time mooching on the couch and generally being lazy. Hubby says no Xfactor allowed, but hell there's two HOURS of strictly tonight!! bring it on! Might start doing some housework though, everyone keeps saying to keep active and I really do want this baby out. and dinner tonight is a cumberland pie ready meal... no fannying around being nigella this weekend. with maybe a cake if hubby brings a treat home on his way back from work... might have to text him to ask him to pick up lemon meringue. My sis has just texted for the sixth time today asking if i have started. she knows i will text at the first twinge, so she must be as anxious as me!! Try a bit of hanky panky my son has just set off to his biological father's. So have indicated to hubby that the house is both empty and that I too would like to evict my lodger this evening. Even his mother has just phoned and told him that the only way his sister was coming out was when she and his father got intimate and that he ought to help by offering his services hahahaha I nearly wet myself at his expression!! They make a big fuss & give you lots of vouchers if you start in there. My sisters waters broke last year in Toys R Us on the Festival Park. We didn't think to run into Mothercare. CallyChook Posted October 10, 2010 Author Share Posted October 10, 2010 (edited) still nowt happening.... stocked up with big sacks of layers and growers pellets today and wood shavings.... we could live out a nuclear war with the stocks we've got now both humans and chickens... the longer it goes the more "prepared" we get!! Spent a good half hour out inspecting the chooks, the first nice warm day I'vedone this on, it's been bloomin' freezing the last few times! I definitely think Rain is looking like being a boy blue silkie and Monsoon too....Rain is a really nice bird and despite being the least friendly of my hatchers, he does have 5 toes, a nice all over colour and very pretty beak. I haven't seen any blue silkie boys this yr either, only golds and whites. Monsoon only has the 4 toes and is a bit of a darker slate colour but much friendlier. We'll see. The only thing that makes me think Monsoon is male is his/her comb is looking bobbly rather than wrinkly, with my white silkies the male has a bubbly comb and Mina's is wrinkled. Rain's hair do is getting more streaky/streamery by the day as well as the bobbly comb business. They're only 12 1/2 weeks old though, so I guess too soon to start thinking about culling just yet. See what late babies do? They make you start thinking about chickens EVEN MORE while you're stuck home waiting!! It's my birthday on halloween and my mum asked me what I wanted for a present earlier. Both my girls were 13 days overdue...It was only the fear of being booked in to be induced that started me off. I did the hot curry long walk..ahem, jiggery pokery, all with chronic acid from the curry..and I do love spicy food.....whter it was that, or whether they were just ready at 13 days. Although the first labour was started off with the terrible shock of my cat falling out of the 1st Floor bay window....he was fine, the little horror......I was in bits. I just saw his miserable little balck and white form fall past my eyes as I was sitting on the sofa......I've never moved so fast in my life! Found him under my car , licking his paws., as if to say " yeah, what?" Oh also meant to say..Good luck, and hope you have a better experience this time.....my after care was rubbish too...lots of very young girls on my ward....I was 24, and that obviously meant I needed no help Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
