Cinnamon
Just back from an afternoon of Potterdom It was FABULOUS!!!!! The scenery & set pieces were brilliant, there were some truly nasty villians, quite a bit of mild gore, & some good belly laughs too. Bill Weasley - swoon!!!!! Ditto the nasty Snatcher character - just my type...grubby & hairy & a little bit nasty The 3 mains have really matured into super actors, and you could tell that they really relished getting their teeth into something a bit more substantial acting wise with this movie. The Draco character was also very good,as you see him struggle with his conscience. The wedding was lovely The deaths were tear inducing, especially for my daughter who hadn't read the book. There was a truly wonderful little animated sequence, which was just gorgeous. One question - I remember The Burrow going up in massive flames at the end of the last film, but it seems almost magically restored now I would recommend it to all. It has a very different feel to the others - much more grown up (although still fine for older children) & an almost road movie sort of feel to it. And at the end the whole cinema clapped - that doesn't happen often these days! Enjoy!

Janepie33
Off to see it tomorrow for DS's 20th birthday which is also tomorrow. We took him to see the first HP film for his 11th birthday. We laughed and wondered what else he could enjoy doing at ages 11 and 20! DD and DS both at Uni and we are all meeting up for a lovely family occasion. Jules.
I've not seen it yet, I'm waiting for it all to die down a bit & go quieter before we go. In the 6th book The Burrow never was burned down, that was just for the "movie wow factor/effect" ( why do they have to tamper with the plot???) & so that's why it's still there in the 7th film IYSWIM. Geoid
They tamper with the plot to make it different from the book, otherwise you would know what was going to happen all the time.
Couperwife
They tamper with the plot to make it different from the book, otherwise you would know what was going to happen all the time. in that case...does Harry marry hermione? and Ron finally end up with Luna? - just so its different to the book Ive no idea why the burrow burns down it did seem like an extreme change to the plot (i didnt like that part) cathy x
jlo
I agree that the bit where The Burrow burned in the 6th film was a bit superfluous. I went along yesterday with most of the children's school - they had an Inset day so it was really good timing! Of course I wasn't allowed to sit with them so I was a bit of a Larry Loner. OH had offered to come with me but I was pleased that he didn't as he hasn't read any of the books or watched any of the other films and I think that he would not have understood a word of what was going on. I don't think that there was any concession for the un-initiated! I thoroughly enjoyed it and thought that they did the book justice. I was slightly concerned at the Locket Horcrux opening scene - perhaps not entirely suitable for a children's film but then much of it is quite scary. Also agree about the Snatchers - not necessarily aout Bill though! As they got through about 80% of the book I guess that they will be concentrating big time on the Battle of Hogwarts next July! Can't wait!!!!

bluekarin
We watched it last night and we all really enjoyed it. The boy of about 12/13 sat next to me almost jumped out of his seat at one particular point I thought it was well done, and much better than some previous ones. Hubby came along too, even though he didn't want to, and he quite liked it. He said he was pleased they didn't feel the need to fill every minute with something. Loved the animation sequence. Loved the beginning where they went into the MOM after using the polymorphing juice and HP's walk - very funny. Greatly looking forward to the next film
Old Speckled Hen
I'm off to see it with hubby on Friday. He's never seen HP on big screen so he's in for a treat. Looking forward to it.

Lewis
We went to see it on Wednesday Loved it Thought it was much more grown up than the others. We've grown up with them too so will be sad to see the last one! We sat + watched the credits 'cos a friend of mine from the theatre was a stunt man and a flatmates friend was a props man

The Dogmother
We've just seen it - well Rosie went to one viewing and Phil and I went to the other.. she couldn't possibly be seen with us! Good film, could have been half an hour shorter though, some scenes were spun out. Two of my favourite actors; Alan Rickman and Bill Nighy were splendid. Great. Loved the trailer for the next Narnia film, looks good too.

Seagazer
Just came home from watching it at Bluewater (not the thing to do in the run up to Christmas ) it was fantastic. As others have said I think it is brilliant that it seems more of a grown up film now that the 'kids' are older. Very dark and menacing in some parts and I jumped about twice. I love the mixture of comedy and scary bits. Its quite a long time since I read the book so it was quite good not remembering everything so seeing it with almost fresh eyes.
