chick wiggle
I have been suffering from shocking ( ) static shocks for quite a while now and i think we have narrowed it down to my crocs I do wear them all the time, i have normal crocs for outside, croc wellies and mammoths for slippers indoors. I zap all the time, when i touch people, door handles and now even new little puppy George You can actually hear the zap! I have now stopped wearing them indoors to try and see if they are the culprits. Does anyone else suffer from this?
Bramble
Haven't noticed a problem with crocs, but I definitely have that problem when I wear some types of trainers (especially in the office, which isn't very often), the shocks I get off my car are terrible at times (not only can you hear the shock, but you can sometimes also see it if its dark!) Egluntyne
They banned them in certain hospital operating theatres a while back, because the combination of sparks and anaesthetic gasses was thought not to be a good idea.
chick wiggle
Really? Ooo not just me then? Well, i'll lay off them for a while and hopefully that might put a stop to this shocking behaviour! ( sorry, these puns are just too hard to resist arnt they? )
Geoid
They banned them in certain hospital operating theatres a while back, because the combination of sparks and anaesthetic gasses was thought not to be a good idea. Most anaesthetics are also quite explosive
Sam Palmer
Yup, happens to me too. I give my cats electric shocks when I wear them and I get them when I open my car door.
Lesley
I have big problems with static but it doesn't matter what I'm wearing - it's worse in cold, dry weather. The dogs steer clear of me at the moment
chicken bark
I bet most offices have nylon carpets so I bet the croc/carpet combo could be quite charged too. Lesley I know what you mean about frost and static. My cats look at me as though I've bitten them. They still come back for a warming cuddle though. The Dogmother
I've found that too, although not having carpets at home helps.

The vet nurses still wear them though!
Blackrocksrock
Gosh I was excited when I saw the subject title thought I would have really warm feet if you got electric crocs
Valkyrie
I could tell when a thunderstorm was approaching by the static on our old kiddie slide. Not only did it zap me, but the poor little flies that landed on it were obviously suffering! But yes, everywhere in the house and the car I zap everything that I touch. Ah well, perhaps I've been hanging around with Thor a bit too much. I don't think I'll buy crocs then - was toying with the idea, but I think my family have suffered enough already. Ooooorrrrrrrrrr maybe not.

chick wiggle
Well i have been wearing my cheapo 'ugg' typey boots as slippers for the last day or so and so far, it is much better, then, i put my mammoths back on for about 20 minutes this afternoon and got a very loud and tingly ZAP off the door handle Shopping for new slippers at the weekend me thinks I loved me crocs too
Rhapsody
it depends on what you are wearing- in the summer i am fine but when the fleeces and thermals go on in the winter i zap everyone. zeus gets the brunt of it and always gives me the "what did you do that for" look
Valkyrie
Nope, can't wear fleeces - makes my hair stand on end which is no mean feat when you know the length of my hair! DS can't wear them either - gives him an awful rash on his body.
